For those without senses and those with senses, there is no difference in one aspect for those with senses. The absence of difference due to mixture because of being in the same place is like this: from the basic particles themselves to the composite elements different from them, and the matter arising from the elements, there is no difference. All composite forms should be regarded as being mixed without difference, like various substances mixed with stone, finely ground and mixed with water. It is not like a pile of sesame seeds, pea pods, pea grains, seeds of Chinese fir, and Chinese beans, etc. All forms that are the cause also exist within the scope of the great elements, and do not exist differently from the scope of the great elements. The amount of space occupied by the great elements is also occupied by the forms that are the cause. Therefore, the forms that are the cause are said to be dependent on the great elements. Therefore, the great elements are called great elements because they arise in a great way. In short, these composite forms have fourteen substances, namely: earth, water, fire, wind, color, sound, smell, taste, touch, and the five sense objects of the eye, etc., except for the form that is the object of mind. Therefore, all composite forms included by the tangible senses have the nature of all the substances as described above. Just as the tangible senses are included, the place of the tangible senses is also included by the great elements. Other composites besides the tangible senses have a nature different from them. Therefore, by the inclusion of characteristics, they become those fourteen substances. By relying on the inclusion of phenomena by characteristics, the particles of matter can be determined. The inclusion by nature is: any composite that arises from how many natures should be said to be included by that many substances. The inclusion by indivisibility is: whether internal or external composites, how many phenomena are identified by characteristics, that composite is included by those substances.

The earth element should be discerned. Among such aggregates, some focus solely on one element, such as: stones, gems, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, coral, red coral, and so forth; springs, oceans, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and so forth; flames, lamps, lanterns, and so forth; the wind mandala of the east, south, west, and north, along with dust or dustless wind, and so forth. Some focus on two, such as: water foam, wet wood, leaves, flowers, wet fruits, and so forth, or burning gems, and so forth. Some focus on three, such as: burning or moving those woods, and so forth. Some focus on all four, such as: the internal form aggregates, as the Blessed One said: "Whatever, from one's own hair and so forth to the external earth, is the internal earth element. Urine and so forth are the water element. That which completely heats and universally burns this body, and that of which there is a greater proportion, so that it is counted as being afflicted by fever, that is the fire element. The wind that moves upwards and so forth is the wind element." Thus, whatever is focused upon exists by its characteristic, and whatever is not focused upon does not exist. Sound exists as an element in all form aggregates. In terms of characteristics, some exist because they are produced by the action that is happening now. Wind is also of two kinds: continuous and stable, and continuous and unstable. Among these, the continuous and stable is that which moves in a circular manner in those aggregates. The continuous and unstable is that which moves in the mandala and moves in space. For the form of darkness, the form of light, and the empty room, it is called the space element. That form of darkness is stable in the intervals of the world. That which exists elsewhere is unstable. Similarly, for the form of light, the self-luminous light of the gods is stable. That which exists elsewhere is unstable. Light and darkness are also aggregates in which color is predominant.
