However, from desire to the destruction of the mind, it is like this: strong desire makes the mind lose its freedom. What is the all-pervasive affliction of the object? For example, when some people walk in a village or town, when a colorful and lovely object appears, because of the flourishing of the object, their consciousness follows the beautiful signs of the object, and the mind is completely entangled. For this reason, desire, craving, and pursuit of the object arise. What is the all-pervasive affliction of complete torment? For example, some people, through the three all-pervasive afflictions that increase craving, generate craving for themselves, and again look at the objects that have already been enjoyed, and are completely tormented for the sake of future objects and for the sake of enjoying the objects that appear now, and both body and mind are completely tormented. What is the all-pervasive affliction associated with good rebirth? For example, some people are influenced by the truth of the origin of craving itself, and if they practice virtue with their body, practice virtue with their speech and mind, and obtain a good rebirth among gods or humans, then they will cling to the feeling of happiness, and dwell and act with extreme carelessness. What is the all-pervasive affliction associated with bad rebirth? That is craving itself, broadly speaking, if one practices evil with body, speech, and mind, then after the destruction of the body, due to the feeling of happiness, one will fall into bad rebirths, bad paths, and be reborn among hell beings. After being born there, one will become very painful and unpleasant, and will turn into a hateful mind, and the mind will also weaken as a result. What is the all-pervasive affliction of views? That is, being influenced by the truth of the origin of craving itself, if one wants to be liberated from all-pervasive afflictions, but relies on evil friends who perversely teach the Dharma of liberation from all-pervasive afflictions, then relying on the teachings of those perverse Dharmas, not only will one not obtain liberation, but one will also generate sixty-two
