It will become like that. It is thus without attachment, without greed, and becomes mindful. The smoke dissipates, there is no destruction, and there is no expectation. How does the smoke dissipate? Smoke refers to craving. Why? For example, smoke is the precursor to the element of fire, it also harms the eyes, and it causes extreme disturbance by not allowing one to stay at ease. Therefore, it abandons craving. Similarly, craving is also the precursor to desire, hatred, and ignorance, and it also harms the eyes of wisdom. Like this, thoughts accompanied by harm cause extreme disturbance to the mindstream. Therefore, it abandons craving, and through complete understanding, it will become a nature that will not arise even in the future. In that way, the smoke dissipates. It thus dissipates the smoke and is without attachment, but it will completely seek the necessities of life, not not seeking, but completely seeking while being liberated from the afflictions that are completely sought by craving. How can it be without destruction? When it begins to completely seek like this, if others give or allow to be given, whether giving respectfully or disrespectfully, whether good or bad, whether much or little, whether giving quickly or not delaying, it will not be attached to those things. It will not enjoy from attachment to those gains, acceptance, and accumulation, up to excessive attachment. In that way, it is like this, in enjoying the necessities of life, it is not destroyed by the destruction of desire. If others do not give alms, or create obstacles, or give disrespectfully instead of respectfully, or delay giving instead of giving quickly, it will not be discouraged by that, its foundation will not collapse and disappear, nor will it regret the enjoyment of gains, it will not be sad, nor will it completely torment itself, nor will it be angry. In that way, it will not be destroyed by the destruction of hatred. Whether what it gains is good or bad, much or little, its mind will not be shaken by those things. In that way, it will not be destroyed by the destruction of ignorance. In that way, it will become without destruction. How can it be without expectation? When it begins to completely seek like this, if it obtains those things, it will not have expectations for those things. In that way, it will become without expectation. It is thus without attachment, without greed, and mindful, the smoke dissipates, there is no destruction, and there is no expectation.

Seeing the faults of inferiority, and knowing that one must definitely be liberated, abiding in mindfulness, and practicing properly without ignorance, therefore one will not be destroyed by the destroyer of ignorance. How is it that there is no hope? The so-called hope is to rely on and be attached to by the mind. One thinks: From these people, I will be able to obtain good food and drink, Dharma robes, alms, bedding, cushions, medicine for illness, and all the necessary items, thereby exalting oneself. For example, one will not go to the homes of great Sala trees of the royal lineage, or great Sala trees of the Brahmin lineage, or great Sala trees of the householder lineage, and so on. Thus, there is no hope for those gains that are sought and enjoyed. Whether night passes and day comes, or day passes and night comes, one always abides continuously with the awareness of death. There are many causes for my death, from "Has my wind become disturbed?" to "I am also frightened by non-humans." Understand it as it is said in the sutras. Thus, there is no hope for the life that seeks to obtain gains and lives to enjoy them. Thus, those who are without attachment, whose smoke has cleared, who are not destroyed, and who have no hope, even the gods with power, with sovereignty, and with the lord of beings, do not see here the cause of becoming gods and humans, nor do they see the cause and effect of gods and humans in the next life. Whether it is the world of gods and humans in this Jambudvipa, or another, whether it is the realm of this world, or another world of gods and humans, they do not see it. Among them, the first verse shows the desires of other times, as well as the wrong seeking for desires, and the result of wrong seeking. The second verse shows the nature of reason for completely abandoning desires, as well as the nature of abiding in pure conduct, being completely pure, and not seeking faults, and that desires themselves belong to other times.
