That (referring to the one who is detached). Possessions to be enjoyed, whether few or many. Even the assembly of relatives is abandoned. For example, in order to completely cut off all aging and death, one leaves home out of faith, and only in this way is it best to renounce. After they have renounced in this way, they do not practice celibacy with the wish that, through my discipline, asceticism, and pure conduct, I may become a god or any kind of god. They have no wrong aspirations. Because they have no wrong aspirations, others might say to them: 'Your appearance is beautiful, you are in the prime of youth, and your relatives are not pleased. Why have you abandoned the desires of this life and vowed to practice celibacy for the sake of the desires of the next life?' Thus, they openly declare, seek faults, look for disputes, and remember topics, but they do not see or think that others are looking for their faults, nor do they have doubts. Therefore, if the meaning of what is said is fully understood, then the words of others to him do not exist for him. He has no thoughts about the speaker. This is his purity of discipline. He is also endowed with purity of view. That is because distorted views give rise to pride, and being controlled by pride, one engages in endless disputes with other ascetics and Brahmins. Therefore, this view is the root of disputes. For any ascetic or Brahmin, the root of disputes lies in views, thereby displaying a conceited sense of being equal, superior, or inferior. Due to that cause and condition, for example, in order to prove oneself great, equal, or small, starting from the pride of 'I am great,' and from the pride of 'I am equal' and 'I am small,' one engages in endless disputes with other ascetics and Brahmins. Those noble hearers do not waver in the thought of 'I am,' from 'I am' to 'I will not become neither with nor without perception.' Therefore, all actions are interdependent.

Because one has realized the truth, and because one sees all conditioned phenomena as mere Dharma, if one does not measure oneself with thoughts like "I am greater than others" or "I am equal to them," how could arrogance or clinging to arguments arise? Those noble Shravakas show their own words to others and refute the words of others, relying entirely on the good nature of the Dharma, with love and compassion. Even if others correctly speak the meaning of a single word, they will understand it as much as they can, so that this word can bring long-term benefit, happiness, and cause the true Dharma to abide for a long time. They do not argue out of arrogance or for the sake of gain and honor. If so, they have not vowed to abide in Brahmacharya for the sake of the desires of this life. Their way of abiding in Brahmacharya is: being free from wrong aspirations and wrong views, not clinging to gain and honor, being completely pure in all aspects, being open and upright, worthy of praise by gods and humans, not deserving of condemnation, and being able to transcend aging and death. Therefore: If one clings to "equal, superior, or inferior," it will inevitably lead to arguments. For those who are not shaken by these three concepts, there is no distinction of equal or superior. That is what is to be said. The so-called "name" and "form" refer to the five aggregates of grasping. If someone sees these as suffering and realizes them, then he knows from the sutra of realizing the truth that all the aggregates of grasping are suffering. Therefore, he will make a firm resolution to completely cut off the attachment to these five aggregates of grasping, not just at the subconscious level. He will practice the path he has realized, completely abandon the arrogance of "I," and become an Arhat who has exhausted all defilements. When he attains the state of Arhat, his mind will be completely liberated, and there will be no entanglement with the body and the objects of the body, no attachment at the subconscious level, no arrogance, and no carelessness.
