It is like flying away from a burning place. Whether it goes or stays, if various kinds of perceptions arise towards the various things of the world, then perceiving outwardly will obstruct his samadhi. Or, if the one in samadhi sees himself as supreme and always considers others as inferior, that is also various kinds of perceptions. If one strives too much to speak, or if one contemplates for too long, the body will become tired, and the mind will not be able to enter samadhi, so speaking too much also causes obstruction. Then, even if the signs of appearance and the appearance of forms arise, because one abandons the attention that enters into inner yoga and engages outwardly, and because one contemplates on various forms, realization also obstructs samadhi. These should be understood as individually obstructing the object and basis of samadhi in a compatible manner, because they gradually cause one to lose the characteristics of the object and basis. Some lose from both characteristics. What is the samadhi associated with joy? It is the samadhi of the first and second dhyanas. What is the samadhi associated with pleasure? It is the third dhyana. What is the samadhi associated with equanimity? It is the fourth dhyana and above. What is the meditation on samadhi that will lead to dwelling in bliss in this life? It is the meditation on samadhi on the path of union of the four that dwell in bliss in this life, or the meditation on samadhi on things that are not completely purified and not completely subdued. The Blessed One spoke of the path of union for the first dhyana for the purpose of entering into what had not been experienced before. What is the meditation on samadhi that will lead to obtaining the sight of wisdom? In this regard, just as it is said in the sutra that a monk should well, completely, and thoroughly grasp the sign of appearance, and apply it to the path, that itself should be observed from the path of union that accomplishes the divine eye. In this regard, seeing various forms with the divine eye and making them manifest, that is seeing. For example, these gods, named...

Whatever is known as "the category is this, the category is that," that which is extensively explained in the sutras spoken for the sake of the gods, that is wisdom. What is the meditative cultivation of samadhi that thoroughly distinguishes wisdom? It is the fruit of constantly entering into the realization of truth on the path of application, and the meditative cultivation of samadhi by individual correct knowers. What is the meditative cultivation of samadhi that leads to the exhaustion of defilements? It is the fruit of becoming an Arhat on the path of application. What is the samadhi that possesses the five wisdoms of the noble ones? It is as extensively explained in the sutras: "This samadhi of mine is noble, without impurity, without aggregates." Thus, it fully reveals the five wisdoms, namely: nature, person, complete purity, fruit, entering into samadhi, and the signs of arising. Among these, the reason for being called "noble" is because it is the noble of virtue and the noble of non-defilement. Being called "without impurity" is because it shows itself as the noble of virtue. Being called "without aggregates" is because it is the noble of non-defilement. Being called "relied upon by non-evil beings" is because it is relied upon by the noble Buddhas and their Shravaka disciples. Being called "praised by the wise" is because it is praised by those very ones. Being called "not blamed by the wise" is because it is praised at all times. For example, the first dhyana is praised as peaceful at first because it strives to go higher, but later it is criticized as coarse, but it is not like that. Being called "peaceful" is because it pacifies the afflictions that are incompatible with it. Being called "excellent" is because it is not tainted by its own afflictions. Being called "having attained the path of extreme pliancy" is because it has attained the path that will not be completely lost. Being called "having attained the unification of the mind-stream" is because it has attained the state of no thought and no investigation. Being called "what arises now is bliss" is because it abides in bliss in this life. Being called "what ripens in the future is bliss" is because it enables the attainment of the bliss of nirvana without remainder. Mindfully
