If one focuses on the inner object in one way, it will appear truthfully in one way. What is small samadhi? It is small in terms of the object, because one sees small external forms? Or is it small in terms of attention, because faith, desire, and focus are small? What is great samadhi? It is great in terms of the object, that is, one sees most forms, but not the infinite and boundless. Or it is great because attention has become great, because faith, desire, and focus are great, but not because faith, desire, and focus are infinite and boundless. What is immeasurable samadhi? Is it because one sees infinite and boundless forms from the object? Or is it because faith, desire, and focus are infinite and boundless in terms of attention? Among them, the samadhi of the mind that has become great is that the gods of light (lha 'od can) know the gods of light, focusing on something like a tree trunk, and thus arises extensively. The immeasurable ones are the four immeasurables. How does one know the gods of light and focus on something like a tree trunk? Emerging from the desire realm, attaining the first dhyana, striving to purify that samadhi completely, and also hearing the name Gods of Light, thereby attending to the signs of the light of their bodies, starting from the trunk of a tree, and focusing until the end of the earth, the edge of the ocean, because the samadhi becomes greater and greater, so due to its difference, it will be transformed into the difference of birth. How does the order of attention change? No matter how much one focuses on, that much attention will be established. Relying on the order of attention, how does the order of practice change? Relying on the power of attention itself, the difference in the practice of samadhi itself will be established, because it will become very pure. Relying on the order of practice, how is the order of the path established? No matter how extremely the samadhi is practiced, the difference in the cause of birth will be established. The path

Then, how are the levels of sentient beings established based on the order? Due to that cause, those born in that sentient being will be established as high and low, good and bad. What is the difference between the light of the first dhyana and the second dhyana? For example, a jewel has light on the outside, but the jewel itself is not light. Similarly, the body of the first dhyana practitioner has light on the outside, but the body itself is not light. Just as a lamp has light on the outside and the lamp itself is also light, similarly, it should be understood that the body of the second dhyana practitioner is also light. Therefore, it is called one body, but not the former. How are the four immeasurables established? Sentient beings have three types: neither suffering nor happiness, possessing suffering, and possessing happiness. These are in order of desiring happiness, desiring to be free from suffering, and desiring not to be separated from happiness. They are established as four by four kinds of close practice. The three are in order of closely practicing happiness, closely practicing the elimination of suffering, and closely practicing not being separated from happiness. Equanimity is established by closely practicing without the pervasive afflictions of dislike and desire, without the pervasive afflictions of hatred, and without the pervasive afflictions of attachment, by those three themselves, such as desiring happiness. The so-called having a loving heart, which appears extensively, is because the one with a loving heart dwells closely by benefiting others. The characteristic of benefiting others is friendship. Benefiting others is also of two types: closely practicing benefit and closely practicing happiness. These two are also taught by all the immeasurables. The so-called 'without that one' is because there is no extremely hateful thought. The so-called 'without rival' is because it abides in a way that there is no disharmony. The so-called 'without harm' is because it does not engage in harmful actions. The so-called 'vast' is because the object is vast. The so-called 'becoming great' is because closely practicing benefit and happiness is the main thing.
