And is not separated from attachment. If one is liberated in this way, from what is one liberated? Namely, those forms that are practiced in the desire realm, those themselves are taken to mind, and one is devoted to the characteristics that are combined with appearance and clarity. That is twofold in terms of being form, namely, whoever is born in the desire realm, and whoever has attained the absorption of form, also because of devotion to what is combined with appearance. Regarding what is called looking at forms, how does one look? And why does one look? In the realm of desire, the forms that are practiced are broken down into small forms in the realms of overcoming, what are the good colors, what are the bad colors, and what are the good ones? The same should be elaborated for the great ones. Why? Because of the manifestation of excellent qualities, for the sake of diligently practicing yoga, for the sake of accomplishing the realms of overcoming, and the realms of exhaustion, and the miraculous powers of the noble ones, and freedom from afflictions, and knowing according to desire, and individual correct knowledge, and so forth. Although one has already been separated from attachment to those forms, because one has not obtained the power of devotion to them, in order to obtain that power, one repeatedly devotes oneself to them. How does one look at external forms when one is mindful of the absence of internal form? One will be born in the desire realm, and is separated from attachment to form, one does not manifest the absorption of the formless, but one possesses that mindfulness, one does not take to mind the characteristics of internal appearance, but one is devoted to external forms. Those who have become separated from attachment, those are called external objects. That is called being mindful of the absence of internal form in two ways, namely, whoever has obtained the formless

Accomplishment on the ground is called the liberation from suffering. Why? Because of three reasons: namely, having transcended pleasure and pain, being free from all movement, and having achieved extreme purification. The phrase "having realized it with the body" means that the noble ones mostly abide in that state. The liberation of the sphere of infinite space is like this: one is free from desire for it and is devoted to space itself. The liberation of the sphere of infinite consciousness is also similar to this: one is free from desire for it and is devoted to it itself. The liberation of the sphere of nothingness is: having attained the sphere of nothingness, one is devoted to the sphere of infinite consciousness. The liberation of the peak of existence is: one is not devoted to anything else; as long as the perception of cessation arises, one must be devoted to it. Having previously been devoted and purified, then subdued it, it is called the sphere of subduing because of seeing. That subduing should also be understood in five ways: subduing in smallness is like, for example, because of someone being superior in craftsmanship, etc., they regard others as small. Subduing in weakness of power is like, for example, a powerful person despising the very weak. Subduing in invisibility is like, for example, being separated by walls, etc., or making oneself invisible by secret mantras or miraculous powers. Subduing by refuting is like, for example, refuting and abandoning all afflictions. Subduing by mastery is like, for example, a king assigning whatever he pleases to a servant. In the context of this meaning, one should take subduing in invisibility and subduing by mastery, namely, previously one has mastery by being devoted to the liberations. Afterwards, one has mastery by subduing the spheres of subduing. Among them, the phrase "seeing small forms" refers to sentient beings and possessions, etc. The phrase "great ones" refers to houses and dwellings, etc. The phrase "beautiful color" refers to a pleasing color.

Whatever brings pleasure is because they are inherently beautiful. The opposite of that is ugly colors. Ugly are those things that are unpleasant through sound, smell, taste, and touch. The opposite of that is good things, namely the four colors of sentient beings, implements, and immeasurable palaces. "Knowing by subduing" means lighting a fire and focusing on the object. Thus, the so-called "cognition" is the cognition of subduing. Through the spheres of totality, one focuses on the spheres of totality of the object to be focused on. The so-called "non-duality" is because the noble ones do not differentiate between self and other. Immeasurable is for all. Why are these two, form and touch, distinguished as spheres of emergence? Because these two exist in the continuum of both self and other, and in all the realms of form. But the eyes and so on exist only in one's own continuum, and smells and tastes are not universally present. Among these, those with form are the absorptions of totality below the realm of form. In the formless realms, because one can go to all of space, therefore it is placed there as a sphere of totality. Consciousness is also because it is the domain of the object of totality. At first, the yogi focuses, then subdues. Having gained mastery over subduing, one can then focus on the sphere of totality itself as one pleases. Thus, that is the order of them. Through the eight completely purified spheres of form totality, one accomplishes the miraculous power of the noble one's focus and the transformation of things, and however one focuses, and to whatever extent one transforms, it becomes just that, and even gold and so on can perform actions. Through the completely purified sphere of consciousness totality, one accomplishes freedom from afflictions, individual correct knowledge, recollection, and so on. Through the completely purified sphere of space totality, one accomplishes whatever one desires.
