Having entered into that, one should also generate desire for other vehicles, and with respect to all dharmas, the profound meaning ascertained in the ultimate sense is dependent arising. Because arising is without self, there is no sentient being, no life, no nourishment, no person. Thus one should act, and have faith in the nature of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. One should not allow everything that becomes a cause for views to lie dormant, and one should have faith in all the Buddha-dharmas such as powers and fearlessness. Because of faith, one is free from doubt. Because one is free from hesitation, one accomplishes those Buddha-dharmas correctly. This is called the power of faith. Abiding in the four correct abandonments is called the power of diligence. Alternatively, the dharma that is to be believed by the power of faith is accomplished by the power of diligence. Therefore, in the Sutra of the Holy Inexhaustible Intelligence, it is also said: What is the power of diligence? The dharmas that have been believed by the power of faith are correctly accomplished by the power of diligence. This is called the power of diligence. Obtaining the four mindfulnesses is called the power of mindfulness. Alternatively, the dharma that has been accomplished by the power of diligence is not forgotten by the power of mindfulness. This is called the power of mindfulness. Therefore, in the Sutra of the Holy Inexhaustible Intelligence, it is also said: What is the power of mindfulness? The dharmas that have been correctly accomplished by the power of diligence are not lost by the power of mindfulness. This is called the power of mindfulness. Obtaining the four dhyanas of the form realm and the four formless attainments is called the power of samadhi. Alternatively, the power of samadhi is to constantly place one's mind one-pointedly on the dharma that has not been forgotten by the power of mindfulness. Therefore, in the Sutra of the Holy Inexhaustible Intelligence, it is also said: What is the power of samadhi? The dharmas that have not been lost by the power of mindfulness are made one-pointed in mind by the power of samadhi. This is called the power of samadhi. Knowing the four noble truths is called the power of wisdom. Alternatively, focusing with the power of samadhi

Knowing the individual and general characteristics of phenomena when they are placed together is the faculty of wisdom. Therefore, in the Sutra of Inexhaustible Intelligence, it is also said: What is the faculty of wisdom? The faculty of wisdom thoroughly and meticulously understands those phenomena that have been made single-pointed by the power of samadhi. Whatever phenomena there are, understanding them without relying on others and knowing them individually, this is called the faculty of wisdom. Bodhi, conduct, and excellent hearing, Tranquility and insight, The basis of faith and so forth. The term 'basis' refers to the object to be focused on. The object of focus for the faculty of faith is bodhi. The term 'bodhi' refers to the non-dual wisdom of the first ground, or the wisdom that is inexhaustible and unborn. Faith focuses on how to attain it. The object of focus for the faculty of diligence is the conduct of a bodhisattva, characterized by the grounds and perfections, superior discipline, and gathered by superior wisdom. Diligence is for accomplishing those conducts. The object of focus for the faculty of mindfulness is the phenomena of how it was heard, how it was grasped, and how it was expanded by words. Mindfulness is for not forgetting the Dharma as it was heard. The object of focus for samadhi is tranquility. The faculty of samadhi, which practices with devotion, focuses on how to attain the special tranquility from the tranquility of the first ground. The object of focus for the faculty of wisdom is insight. Wisdom focuses on how to attain the non-conceptual wisdom realized on the first ground. Why are they called faculties? Therefore, it is said, 'To be known for the sake of accomplishing meaning.' Because the faculty of faith has power over bodhi, the faculty of diligence has power over conduct, the faculty of mindfulness has power over non-forgetting, the faculty of samadhi has power over tranquility, and the faculty of wisdom has power over the faculty of wisdom and accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others.
