As mentioned above, one should also be proficient in academics and understand the terminology of the world, the arising of the world, and the cessation of the world, becoming a refuge and protector for the world. Therefore, after understanding the world, the reasons for relying on distinctions are then explained. Among them, there are four types of distinct reliance: rely on the Dharma and not on the person, rely on the meaning and not on the words, rely on the definitive meaning of the sutras and not on the provisional meaning of the sutras, and rely on wisdom and not on discriminatory consciousness. The so-called "relying on the Dharma spoken by the Buddha" means that one should follow the scriptures spoken by the Great Sage Buddha Bhagavan, and not follow the words of individuals who express various different views. This is called relying on the Dharma spoken by the Buddha, which indicates relying on the Dharma and not on the person. The so-called "meaning of the intention" means that the Dharma spoken by the Bhagavan also has two aspects: meaning and words. For example, if someone says, "Killing the father, killing the mother, and killing the Arhat will lead to enlightenment," one should contemplate its meaning, and not directly follow the words "killing the father, killing the mother will lead to enlightenment." This is called relying on the meaning of the intention, which indicates relying on the meaning and not on the words. Among them, the meaning of the intention refers to understanding that "father" refers to ignorance and "mother" refers to desire. This understanding is relying on the meaning of the intention. The so-called "meaning spoken by those who have become valid" means that there are also two types of sutras: sutras of definitive meaning and sutras of provisional meaning. Among them, those who have become valid, such as the Buddha Bhagavan, or those who have become valid by the Buddha Bhagavan, such as Bodhisattvas, great Shravakas, or the prophesied Nagarjuna, etc., relying on the non-dual meaning they speak is called relying on the meaning spoken by those who have become valid, which indicates relying on the sutras of definitive meaning and not relying on the sutras of provisional meaning. Regarding the explanation of the existence of aggregates and realms, one should not

It is because of reliance. It is because of obtaining the inexpressible. It is called: The inexpressible refers to the non-conceptual wisdom that transcends the world. Because that wisdom is free from all concepts and is not the domain of words, it is called inexpressible. Striving and exerting effort to obtain non-conceptual wisdom, not following the eight consciousnesses that are accompanied by defilements, and not being attached to them, this is called relying on obtaining the inexpressible. This shows that it is relying on wisdom, not relying on consciousness. What is meant by being spoken by one who has become a measure and indicated by consciousness? One who has become a measure is the Buddha Bhagavan. What is spoken by him and distinguishes the nature of emptiness without error is called the sutra of definitive meaning. What is meant by being measured by him? The "him" refers to the Buddha Bhagavan. The person, Bodhisattva or Hearer, etc., established as a measure by the Buddha Bhagavan, also refers to the meaning of the sutra of definitive meaning in the sense of explaining the meaning spoken by the Teacher himself. What is meant by because it is inexpressible? Non-conceptual wisdom also transcends the domain of mental conceptualization, and words cannot express it, therefore it is called inexpressible. Those verses separately show the nature of reliance. Or, what is it like to follow a person, and what is it like to follow the Dharma? Observing that a person exists, and also observing that a Dharma exists, and then observing: if this person does good, then he will see the truth; if he does evil, then he will see suffering, this is called following a person. Understanding that both the person and the Dharma are without self-nature, therefore not observing either, this is called following the Dharma. Therefore, in the Holy Inexhaustible Intelligence Sutra, it is also extensively taught: What is the Dharma? What is the person? Abiding in observing a person, creating certain Dharmas, this is called a person. Fully knowing the creation of observing a person, this is called the nature of Dharma, etc. What is the meaning of this? What are the words? The Dharma that transcends the world is the meaning, relying on it.
