To show steadfastness in supreme enlightenment, because the nature of the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and inconceivable Nirmanakaya of the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-buddhas, is to be accomplished, and there is no change or regression. To show other categories of steadfastness, it is said, "Various hardships," etc. By "various hardships," steadfastness in practicing hardships is shown. In order to accomplish the unsurpassed enlightenment, even if various sufferings such as cold, heat, hunger, and thirst arise, the conduct of the Bodhisattva will not be abandoned. By "Not abandoning samsara is other," steadfastness in intentional rebirth is shown, for the sake of sentient beings, even being born in the hells and animal realms for the sake of sentient beings will not be abandoned. By "In that, there is no affliction," steadfastness in being without affliction is shown, even if one is born in samsara for the sake of sentient beings, one will not be stained by the faults of samsara, such as desire, and will not become a slave to afflictions. The classification of steadfastness has been shown. To show the immovability of steadfastness, it is said, "Hearing evil friends, suffering, and depth, steadfastness cannot be shaken, like a butterfly's wings and wind, the ocean does not move Mount Sumeru," etc. The steadfastness of the Bodhisattva is like Mount Sumeru. Just as a butterfly cannot shake Mount Sumeru, even if evil friends with evil intentions transform and teach the Bodhisattva who possesses steadfastness in various evil ways, the steadfastness of the Bodhisattva cannot be shaken or transformed. Just as the wings and wind of the Garuda and birds in the sky cannot shake Mount Sumeru, even if various sufferings such as cold and heat arise when the Bodhisattva practices, he will not be shaken by them, and he will not abandon the conduct of the Bodhisattva. Just as the ocean cannot shake Mount Sumeru, even if the Bodhisattva who possesses steadfastness hears the profound Dharma of emptiness and selflessness, he will not be shaken, and he will not be frightened by the profound Dharma. Not weary.

This is called "Two Verses Differentiating Non-Weariness." Question: After explaining steadfastness, why is the chapter on differentiating non-weariness explained? Answer: When a Bodhisattva's diligence, samadhi, and wisdom are perfectly accomplished and become steadfast, the Bodhisattva will not become weary with many practices and various difficult practices. Therefore, it is related to explain the chapter on non-weariness after steadfastness. The meaning of the two verses is to show the objects of non-weariness, the place of non-weariness, the nature of non-weariness, and the distinctions of non-weariness, according to their meanings. "The incomparable Bodhisattva has no weariness towards three things." In this context, the word "object" refers to the field of experience, meaning that the Bodhisattva has no weariness towards the field of experience. Even worldly people have no weariness towards their own actions, and Hearers and Solitary Buddhas also have no weariness towards attaining their own nirvana, but the Bodhisattvas have no weariness towards three things, which is superior to others, so it is called "incomparable." What are the three things? Therefore, it is said: "Suffering, great diligence, and listening without satisfaction." It explains the three things: the object of suffering, the object of great diligence, and the object of listening without satisfaction. Among them, the Bodhisattva, for the sake of sentient beings, does not turn back even when various sufferings such as cold and heat arise, which is not being weary of the object of suffering. Even if one strives diligently like producing fire with a rubbing stick for countless eons, one does not give up diligence, which is not being weary of the object of great diligence. Just like the merchant's son Norzang, no matter how much Dharma is heard from all those virtuous friends, one is never satisfied, which is not being satisfied and not being weary of the object of listening, which shows the object of non-weariness. "Shame and steadfastness are the place." In this context, "place" and "cause" have the same meaning, and the place of the Bodhisattva's non-weariness lies in the aforementioned shame and steadfastness.
