Because the earth is established, it becomes great. From here onwards, the four-line and three-line verses explain the contents in order. Among them, the four-line verses reveal the opposing aspects of shamelessness and the faults of shamelessness. The three-line verses reveal the distinctions of the merits of shamelessness, which is its meaning. A wise person who is shameless endures afflictions through impropriety. This verse and others reveal harm to oneself, harm to sentient beings, and harm to both. Among them, if a bodhisattva with wisdom becomes shameless and without conscience, there will be improper dharmas such as killing and taking what is not given. They will tolerate the arising of afflictions, not abandon sinful dharmas, and if they commit actions such as killing and taking what is not given, it will cause harm to themselves. For example, due to these causes, in this life they will suffer harm such as being killed and imprisoned, and in future lives they will be born in sentient being hells, which reveals harm to oneself. Anger reveals the harm caused to others. Becoming shameless and without conscience, through anger and desire, killing the lives of other sentient beings and taking the property of others without being given, this is harm to sentient beings. In terms of abandonment and arrogance, both abandonment and arrogance cause harm to both sides, therefore it is said: harm sentient beings and discipline. Among them, abandonment is indifferent to the affairs of sentient beings, abandoning sentient beings, therefore it is harmful to sentient beings. Arrogance also does not allow inferior sentient beings such as outcastes to do good, and even if they have a little knowledge, they do not tell others because they are dominated by arrogance. They go to various villages and regions, and do not do the affairs of sentient beings, therefore it is harmful to sentient beings. Abandonment and arrogance also cause harm to oneself. For example, abandonment will cause oneself not to engage in virtuous dharmas, and will also abandon abandoning non-virtuous dharmas, therefore discipline is damaged, which is harmful to oneself. Arrogance will

Because one does not draw near to a spiritual friend and does not practice the sacred Dharma, etc., one does not understand what should and should not be done. By doing what should not be done and not doing what should be done, discipline will be broken, and in this way, one will harm oneself. One will be tormented by regret. This shows self-reproach. As mentioned above, becoming shameless and without embarrassment, one commits actions such as killing due to attachment and hatred. After committing the action, one will think: "I have done the non-virtuous actions that will cause me to be born in the lower realms!" One's mind will be harmed, suffering will arise, and one will reproach oneself, saying, "I am a lowly person!" "One will not receive offerings" indicates that others will reproach one. Having practiced sinful dharmas in this way, towns and people, patrons, etc., will not give this person gain and respect, etc., because this person is a sinful person and not a field of merit. Therefore, they will not give gain, etc., and one's reputation will be bad. "The great assembly of faithful non-humans" indicates that the gods will reproach one. If one breaks one's vows, then the gods who previously protected one because one kept one's vows will henceforth think that this person is like a corpse who has died from breaking their vows, and they will no longer protect one, but will turn their backs on one. Therefore, "the teacher abandons and sets aside" indicates that the teacher will reproach one. In this way, because one has broken one's vows, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, will also think that this person is guilty, and like holding the behavior of the sound of a conch shell, one will cause much harm to the teachings of the Tathagata. Previously, when the training was not broken, they would care for one, but from then on, they would no longer care for one, but would abandon one. "Dharma-abiding princes" indicates that those who are skilled in pure conduct will reproach one. For those who have broken their vows, the Bodhisattvas who are skilled in the three pitakas and have become sons of the Tathagata will also say: "Our friend is a sinful
