If one constantly attends to a virtuous spiritual friend, it is combined with the saying "attaining all accomplishments." Therefore, this succinctly shows reliance on a virtuous spiritual friend. It is called "Attaining all accomplishments, compassionate to sentient beings." Furthermore, if one benefits sentient beings through the four immeasurables—love, compassion, joy, and equanimity—one will attain all accomplishments. All accomplishments are the accomplishment of one's own benefit and the accomplishment of others' benefit. Among these, offering to the Buddha and relying on a virtuous spiritual friend will lead to the attainment of accomplishing one's own benefit. Meditating on the four immeasurables will lead to the attainment of accomplishing the benefit of others. It is called "Showing the order and qualities." Offering to the Buddha with great objects, relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, and meditating on the four immeasurables show the order. Accomplishing one's own benefit and the benefit of others shows the qualities. It is called "Always greatly offering accomplishment with great objects," combining the saying "Always offering with great objects" and "Always offering with reverence." Offering with great objects shows offering with gain and respect. Offering with reverence shows offering with accomplishment. The chapters on offering, reliance, and the four immeasurables are complete. It is called "Sixteen verses on the distinctions of shame." If someone asks, after explaining the chapters on offering, attendance, and the four immeasurables, what is the connection to explaining the chapters on shame and steadfastness, etc.? Like this, offering and attendance are entered into for the purpose of benefiting oneself, and the four immeasurables are entered into for the purpose of benefiting others. Therefore, in order to completely and ultimately accomplish one's own benefit and the benefit of others, one must cultivate a path that is in accordance with this. Therefore, after the four immeasurables, etc., explaining the qualities of the aspects of enlightenment such as shame is related. That is, through the aim, aspects, nature, and distinctions of the training, the path of training that is in accordance with the bodhisattvas is shown. Among these, from the beginning of knowing shame up to the chapter on the selflessness of the person, all of these should be understood as qualities of the aspects of enlightenment. It is called "Abandoning the inverted side of shame," and other verses,

The nature of knowing shame is explained through excellent self-nature, companion, object, and action. Among them, not knowing shame and being shameless are the opposite aspects of knowing shame and having a sense of shame. Abandoning these two can transform into the nature of knowing shame and having a sense of shame, therefore, this explains the self-nature. Among them, the characteristic of knowing shame is that a Bodhisattva, referring to himself, thinks that practicing non-Bodhisattva practices, such as the Dharma of Shravakas, is not a part of a Bodhisattva, therefore not entering those vehicles is knowing shame. The characteristic of having a sense of shame is that if a Bodhisattva enters the Shravaka's discipline, which is not to be learned, other noble Bodhisattvas will also rebuke him, therefore not entering the vehicles of Shravakas and others is called having a sense of shame. Possessing non-discriminating wisdom. This explains the companion. Among them, not seeing sentient beings, self, knowing shame, and having a sense of shame as existing, and not expecting them to exist in these, is called non-discriminating wisdom. Possessing means that the Bodhisattva's knowing shame and having a sense of shame are the meaning of wisdom and companion. A bad and innocent realm. This explains the object. A bad and innocent realm refers to the vehicles of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Compared to the Mahayana, it only accomplishes self-interest and does not accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings, therefore it is called bad. It does not create the karma of being born in the three realms, but creates the karma of liberation from the three realms, therefore it is an innocent realm. Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas enter it for their own benefit, and if a Bodhisattva practices and acts, he will know shame and have a sense of shame. All the teachings that ripen sentient beings. This refers to the fact that knowing shame and having a sense of shame place sentient beings in the three vehicles and ripen them, which is the action. Therefore, the characteristic of knowing shame and having a sense of shame of stable Bodhisattvas is like that. By this, the Bodhisattva will know shame, which means that the Bodhisattva Shravaka and self-
