Aimed at sentient beings who possess happiness. Why? Because joy is the state of wanting not to be separated from happiness, so also aim at sentient beings who possess happiness, wishing that they may not be separated from happiness. As for what is called affliction, in terms of equanimity, it is encountering feelings of pleasure, encountering friendliness, etc., and then generating attachment, and encountering feelings of suffering and enemies, etc., and then becoming hateful, so aim at sentient beings who become afflicted. Why? Because equanimity is the state of combining without mental affliction towards those feelings, therefore, even if encountering feelings of pleasure and friendliness, etc., may attachment not arise! Even if encountering feelings of suffering and enemies, etc., may hatred not arise! Because this is the set goal. These explain what immeasurable is aimed at, and what collection of sentient beings is aimed at. As for what is called "that which explains the Dharma," the word "that" refers to the four immeasurables, with the love that focuses on the Dharma, focusing on the Mahayana sutra pitaka that elucidates the four immeasurables, this is its meaning. As for "in that suchness, the reliances enter," the word "that" refers to those who desire happiness, are tormented by suffering, possess happiness, and afflicted sentient beings, approaching the sutra pitaka that elucidates the four immeasurables. What is called suchness refers to the emptiness of the four types of sentient beings, and the emptiness of the Mahayana Dharma. With non-referential love, focusing on their emptiness, but not focusing on individual sentient beings and Dharmas, this is its meaning. As for non-referentiality, namely in that suchness, etc., with non-referential love, focusing on the emptiness of sentient beings and Dharmas, at that time, the collection of sentient beings and mental factors abides in the nature of not making any distinctions, becoming one taste, therefore there is no difference between sentient beings, and there is no difference between Dharmas, so it is called non-referential love. Furthermore, through "other," it shows the detailed classification of non-referential love. It is thought that if one distinguishes non-referential love, there will be four types. Also, because that is the reason for suchness, this sentence explains one situation.

Furthermore, it is shown that the love that focuses on the emptiness of sentient beings and all phenomena is called non-objectifying love. This is because there is no focus on self and phenomena, or no focus on external and internal. By obtaining forbearance, it is purified. This shows the second aspect. Because the bodhisattvas of the eighth ground have obtained forbearance of the unborn dharma, the seeds of immeasurable qualities such as love are increased, so the immeasurable qualities are completely purified. The term "completely purified" means that the four immeasurable qualities are spontaneously accomplished without effort or conceptualization. Therefore, the four immeasurable qualities at the time of the eighth ground are established as non-objectifying. The term "two actions" shows the third aspect. The physical action arising from the concordant cause of love, such as not doing beating and scolding, and the verbal action, such as not uttering harsh words, are also called non-objectifying love. Why? Because if there is objectification and conceptualization for the mind and mental factors, then the body and speech are composed of the four great elements and belong to the form aggregate, so because there is no conceptualization, it is established as non-objectifying love. Although love is a mental dharma, the body and speech arise from the mind of love, and because they do not harm sentient beings with harm such as beating and scolding, they are called non-objectifying love. The phrase "also by the exhaustion of afflictions" shows the fourth aspect. Afflictions such as desire and hatred are the objects of the mind and mental factors, and if afflictions are abandoned and exhausted, then the mind has no object to focus on, so the noble love of those who have exhausted afflictions is also called non-objectifying love. Because of obtaining the forbearance of non-arising on the eighth ground, the element increases, so that purity increases. At the time of the eighth ground, because the bodhisattvas have obtained the forbearance of the unborn dharma, white dharma increases, and because they have abandoned the unfavorable aspects, it is called the increase of the element. It is the meaning of increasing the seeds of love and so on. Thus, because the seeds are increased, at the time of the eighth ground and so on, it is purified by love and so on. The meaning of "completely purified" is that it occurs spontaneously without effort.
