I (referring to the author or the Buddha) say that there are two kinds of offerings: small offerings and great offerings. Among them, obtaining (offerings) refers to offering Dharma robes, bedding, and so on. Respect refers to prostrating, joining palms, gathering, praising, and so on, which is called a small offering. Practice refers to listening to the Dharma, contemplating, meditating, and so on, which is called a great offering. Alternatively, offering with obtaining and respect is called a great offering, and offering with practice is called a small offering. The so-called "with self" and "without self" show the inferior and superior offerings. Visualizing that the offerer himself, the Buddha to be offered to, and the offerings such as Dharma robes all exist is called "with self," which is inferior. Why is it inferior? Because it clings to things and is accompanied by discriminating thoughts, so it is inferior. Offering without discriminating that the offerer himself, the Buddha to be offered to, and the objects of offering exist is called "without self," which is superior. Why? Because it abandons discriminating thoughts about things. The so-called "combination" and so on, the offering of combination is also of two kinds: combining offerings at other times and combining offerings at that time. Among them, combining offerings at other times refers to combining offerings after intervals of years and months, which is called distant. Combining offerings at that time refers to making offerings at the very moment when one thinks of making offerings, which is called close. The so-called "going" and so on, the offering of going is also of two kinds: offering after interrupting going and offering immediately. Among them, offering after interrupting going refers to not offering for two, three, hundreds, or thousands of lifetimes, and then offering later, that is its meaning. This refers to a bodhisattva who completely matures sentient beings, and then other bodhisattvas who enter into it also mature them, so all actions are mixed. After one bodhisattva makes offerings to the Tathagata, all the bodhisattvas who enter into it also make offerings, so it is called closely mixed. Regarding the classification of reliance,
