I give away my limbs and so on, so that the beggars' minds are fulfilled and satisfied. Bodhisattva beggars, because they have helped me to complete the accumulation of bodhi, so regard them as benefactors and be grateful. However, although the beggars are satisfied with the mind after obtaining wealth and enjoyment from the great generosity of the bodhisattva, they do not generate as much gratitude as the bodhisattva from this cause. The so-called "because of the difference of compassion" means that the generation of such thoughts and the giving of such generosity are all due to compassion. As it is said: "As on the road, enjoy A tree with excellent fruits. An ordinary sentient being without hesitation. Take and enjoy whatever wealth is very vast." For example, on the great road, there is a fruit tree that is not guarded by the owner and is to be used for everyone to enjoy. The fruits, colors, fragrances, and tastes are all excellent, and the travelers who come and go take and enjoy it without hesitation or fear. Similarly, bodhisattvas have complete enjoyment and possess great wealth such as jewels, and sentient beings also enjoy the bodhisattva's enjoyment and wealth without hesitation or fear, just like enjoying their own possessions. This is the meaning. The so-called "bodhisattvas only have enjoyment when they give" means that they do not give at one time and do not give at another time; they do not give to some sentient beings and do not give to some sentient beings; they do not give some things and do not give some things. But they give at all times, give to all beings, and give all things, which is called "stretching out the hand." Thus, stretching out the hand and giving is the joyful enjoyment of the bodhisattva. The generosity mentioned above also comes from those who dwell in the joyful enjoyment of the bodhisattva's outstretched hand, but it cannot be generated by ordinary people, shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, and others. This is the meaning.

In general, it is taught that diligence should be understood by the distinctions of its chief and its cause, the distinctions of action, the distinctions of type, the distinctions of location, and the distinctions of the antidotes to the four hindrances. It is said. Therein, the characteristics and qualities of a Bodhisattva's diligence are shown by six distinctions. This verse shows it only briefly. The remaining verses explain its meaning in detail. The six distinctions are: the distinction of the chief, the distinction of its cause, the distinction of action, the distinction of type, the distinction of location, and the distinction of the antidotes to the four hindrances. The Tathagatas have said that the distinction of a Bodhisattva's diligence is like that. Therein, the distinction of the chief is that diligence is said to be the chief and supreme of all dharmas. If asked, how is diligence the chief of all dharmas? To show the distinction of the cause of that verse, because the cause of obtaining and generating all virtuous dharmas is diligence, therefore, diligence is said to be the most supreme of all virtuous dharmas. The distinction of action is that diligence accomplishes all perfections of the world and beyond the world. The distinction of type is that the types of diligence are explained by dividing the categories of diligence into many types, such as increasing and decreasing diligence. The distinction of location is that the diligence of a Hearer resides in the body of Hearers, the diligence of a Solitary Buddha resides in the body of Solitary Buddhas, and the diligence of a Bodhisattva resides in the body of Bodhisattvas. The distinction of the antidotes to the four hindrances is the four dharmas that hinder the six perfections, namely, attachment to enjoyment, attachment to afflictions, discouragement from diligence, and clinging to a small amount of joy. Diligence is also said to be their antidote. Diligence is supreme among the assemblies of virtue. It means that among all white dharmas such as generosity, diligence is said to be the most supreme. Like this.

If concentration subdues afflictions, and wisdom eradicates afflictions from the root, since they are the most excellent among all virtuous dharmas, why is diligence said to be the most excellent of virtues? Therefore, the statement "Because one obtains it by relying on that" is made, which is explained as the reason why diligence is supreme. Because virtuous dharmas such as generosity arise from relying on diligence, diligence is supreme. Diligence quickly enjoys that supreme thing, and accomplishes worldly and transcendental realizations. This statement explains the distinctions of actions, that is, diligence brings happiness in this life and also brings happiness in future lives. Happiness is attained in this life because with diligence, one obtains happiness that is not mixed with sinful and unwholesome dharmas, and similarly, one experiences the supreme happiness of awakening from sleep and the happiness of returning to sleep. The happiness of future lives is worldly happiness and transcendental happiness. Among them, worldly happiness is of three kinds: the happiness of the desire realm, the happiness of the form realm, and the happiness of the formless realm. Transcendental happiness is also of three kinds: the nirvana of the hearers, the nirvana of the solitary realizers, and the non-abiding nirvana. These are also obtained by abiding in diligence. Diligence obtains the desired enjoyment of existence. In this statement, the word "existence" refers to the three realms, that is, the enjoyment and happiness of the gods and humans of the desire realm are also obtained by abiding in diligence. Diligence makes purity exceedingly perfect. In this statement, "exceedingly perfect" refers to things that are unstable and changing, that is, abandoning all sinful and unwholesome dharmas of the desire realm, thereby obtaining the purity of the four dhyanas of the form realm and the purity of the four formless attainments, which are also obtained by relying on diligence. Diligence transcends the view of the aggregates and attains liberation. In this statement, afflictions such as the view of the aggregates
