Although there are, at that time, because downfalls and faults arise without thinking or observing, the precepts are not completely pure. In the second ground, because one does not dream of engaging in these improper actions even in sleep. At that time, because the training is extremely pure, it is called following the higher training of discipline. As for higher mind, when the third ground is attained, because one attains meditation and samadhi without decline, it is established as following the higher mind. As for higher wisdom, it is established in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grounds as following the higher wisdom. How is it established? In the fourth ground, one is possessed by the thirty-three aspects of enlightenment and possesses the wisdom of the thirty-seven aspects of enlightenment, so it is called following the higher wisdom. To explain how to follow the higher wisdom in the fifth and sixth grounds, it is said: There are two objects of wisdom: not understanding the suchness of phenomena, and returning through understanding. Therefore, the object of wisdom is established on these two grounds. Thus, following the higher wisdom in the fifth and sixth grounds also means that there are two objects of higher wisdom: the suchness of all phenomena and the four noble truths, these two being one object. Entering through not understanding and returning through understanding, that is, following and reversing dependent origination. The so-called two objects of wisdom, the suchness of phenomena, refers to the equality of all phenomena, emptiness. The four truths refer to suffering, origin, cessation, and path. In the fifth ground, because one attains the equality of completely purifying the mind's thoughts and dwells and meditates on the four noble truths, it is said to follow the higher training of wisdom. Entering through not understanding refers to the arising of actions and so on due to ignorance, following dependent origination. Returning through understanding refers to the reversal of dependent origination. In the sixth ground, one also dwells and meditates extensively on following and reversing dependent origination, so it is said to follow the higher wisdom.

So, in the two kinds of objects of superior wisdom, in the fifth bhumi, that superior wisdom focuses on the suchness of dharma and the four truths. In the sixth bhumi, it focuses on dependent arising in accordance with and in reverse order, so the fifth and sixth bhumis are both established as learning the training of superior wisdom. The fruits of training and meditation, there are four others. The word "other" refers to the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth bhumis, and it is to be understood that those four bhumis obtain the four fruits of training in the three trainings. Absence of signs and with effort, abiding is the first fruit. Of the four fruits, the first fruit is abiding in the absence of signs and with effort. In the seventh bhumi, with effort and exertion, in order to meditate on the samadhi of non-conceptualization, it is called abiding in the absence of signs and with effort, this is the first fruit. That itself, the fruit of no effort, is considered the second. The word "that itself" refers to the absence of signs. In the eighth bhumi, in the samadhi of non-conceptualization, without effort or exertion, it spontaneously abides and meditates, that is the second fruit. Purifying the fields, in the eighth bhumi, not only does it abide solely in the spontaneous absence of signs, but it also completely purifies the Buddha fields, and that is also included in the second fruit. Ripening beings, accomplishment is also the same, in the ninth bhumi, having obtained the four individual perfect knowledges, the accomplishment of completely ripening beings is achieved, that is the third fruit. Samadhi and dharanis, accomplishment is the supreme fruit, in the tenth bhumi, the fruits of supreme samadhi and supreme dharanis are achieved, that is the fourth fruit. These four fruits, are very much abiding in the four bhumis, these four fruits of the three trainings are obtained in sequence at the time of those four bhumis, therefore it is said that they abide in sequence in those four bhumis. Among them, the seventh bhumi is abiding in the absence of signs and with effort.
