The meaning is that the Dharma does not need to be fabricated in the mind, but appears and is visible. In order to prove the meaning that emptiness appears to the noble ones, but the characteristics do not appear, it is said: Non-appearance and appearance should be understood as the meaning of existence and non-existence. And so on. The meaning of existence is emptiness, and the meaning of non-existence is the characteristics of the apprehended and the apprehender. Bodhisattvas should know that the meaning of existence appears and is visible in the mind, and the meaning of non-existence, the characteristics, do not appear and are not visible in the mind. That is the meaning. The place has also changed extremely, that is, acting as one wishes while desiring liberation. It is said that when emptiness, the existing Dharma, is also visible, and the characteristic, that is, the non-existent Dharma, is also visible, then, the Alaya consciousness, which becomes the characteristic of other-dependence, is called the changed place. It should be known that the so-called liberation and nirvana also refer to the changed place. Why is the changed place called liberation? For example, when someone is liberated from bondage, just as he acts as he pleases, when the place has changed, he obtains the freedom of the mind, and no matter what he sees, he does not act with the bondage of attachment and aversion, so it is called liberation. Therefore, it should be known that non-appearance and appearance are liberation. The so-called seeing emptiness

Because there is no attachment, nothing arises in the mind, and that is called liberation. Now, with a single verse, to explain by what method the Buddha-field can be completely purified, and to explain the method of purifying the Buddha-field. If everything appears as great, it will become an obstacle, and so on. The meaning of "great" refers to the great earth, the world of outer objects. If at every moment, everything appears from the Alaya-consciousness as the great earth, then as long as there is appearance from the mind, as long as there is appearance, then the great earth will also appear as impure, with bad ditches, thorns, rubble, and so on. Because it does not appear as the color of gold and other precious things, it is an obstacle to the complete purification of the Buddha-field. Objection: If this great earth appears in the mind at every moment, then why do sentient beings have the thought: "I see the same earth today that I saw yesterday before?" This is an objection. The answer to this is, because one is transmitted and consistent with the other, it is said. Because the great earth appears in the form of a moment, the shape and color of the great earth that arose from the previous moment are transmitted in the next moment, with the color and shape of the great earth being exactly the same as before. Therefore, the thought arises: "I see the same earth today that I saw yesterday before." Therefore, as long as there is such a thought, the Buddha-field will not be purified. So, how can the Buddha-field be purified? Therefore, therefore, it is purified through complete understanding, it is said. Like this, as long as the great earth appears in the mind, it is an obstacle to the purification of the Buddha-field. Having understood this, in any case, do not let the great earth appear in the mind, and abandon attachment to the great earth. After abandoning attachment, the characteristics of the complete purification of the Buddha-field will be purified in the mind. The Buddha-field is purified in this way. Therefore, after fully understanding that it becomes an obstacle, and so on, as long as there is earth in the mind.

Appearing as if it were a great foundation, knowing that as long as there is attachment to existence, it is an obstacle to the complete purification of the Buddha-field, therefore attachment to existence should be abandoned. If attachment to existence is abandoned, the characteristics of the Buddha-field, such as the color of crystal, will appear in the mind. In what is called "Verses on Differentiating the Immeasurable," it says that a Bodhisattva who possesses such true wisdom, having liberated himself and attained liberation, will liberate immeasurable beings. Therefore, one verse shows the differentiation of the immeasurable. In short, the immeasurable of Bodhisattvas can be summarized into five types: those to be matured, those to be purified, those to be obtained, those suitable for maturation, and the objects of true teaching, which the wise regard as immeasurable. The immeasurable objects of Bodhisattvas are five in number: the immeasurable objects to be fully matured, the immeasurable objects to be purified, the immeasurable objects to be obtained, and the immeasurable objects to be truly taught, these are the five immeasurable objects. Among them, the objects to be fully matured include, without distinction, those who abide in the lineage of Hearers, those who abide in the lineage of Solitary Buddhas, those who abide in the lineage of Bodhisattvas, those whose lineage is uncertain, and those who have no lineage. As far as the realm of space extends, so far extends the realm of sentient beings. Just like space, the realm of sentient beings has no end, therefore it is called the immeasurable object to be fully matured. Thus, those of the Hearer lineage, those of the Solitary Buddha lineage, and those of the Bodhisattva lineage should be fully matured in the three vehicles. Those of uncertain lineage should also be fully matured in the three vehicles. Those without lineage are placed in the ten virtues and placed among gods and humans to be fully matured. The object of purification is the world, the vessel world, and these things are no different from abysses and thorns.
