One will not attain Buddhahood. Therefore, one should avoid obstacles to things that should not be done. This is explained through one of the six root verses. Regarding the word "offerings," through the perfection of generosity, one should not fail to offer robes, begging bowls, and so forth to all the Tathagatas. This is the perfection of generosity that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the word "vows of discipline," through the perfection of discipline, having properly taken the vows of a Bodhisattva's discipline from the Khenpo and Acharya, and as vowed, not breaking the vows, one should not break or violate the vows. This is the perfection of discipline that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the word "compassion," through the perfection of patience, one should not fail to generate compassion for the suffering of sentient beings. This is the perfection of patience that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the phrase "cultivating virtue," through the perfection of diligence, one should not fail to continuously cultivate worldly and transcendental virtues. This is the perfection of diligence that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the phrase "mindfulness and likewise solitary places," through the perfection of meditation, one should not fail to dwell in solitary places, abandoning the bustle of careless places. This is the perfection of meditation that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the phrase "never being satisfied with the meaning of listening," through the perfection of wisdom, one should not be content with relying on many virtuous friends and listening to many scriptures such as the Sutras. This is the perfection of wisdom that should be protected from obstacles. Regarding the phrase "being steadfast in all the grounds, these are the things to be protected from obstacles," the six things mentioned above that should not be done are what Bodhisattvas should not do in all ten grounds. One must avoid obstacles, this is the meaning. Regarding the "two verses that distinguish what should be done constantly," that is, doing things without interruption in each kalpa, each year, each day, and each moment, is what should be done constantly.

It should be known that the meaning of the two verses showing that the six dharmas are to be practiced constantly. The so-called "knowing the faults of desire" refers to the qualities of the five desires, namely form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. In order for the Bodhisattva to abandon stinginess and perfect the perfection of generosity, one should always know that the faults of the five desires are impermanent, suffering, like dreams, like illusions, like poison, like weapons, and so on. If you think like this, you will not have the mind to be greedy for enjoyment, etc., and you will perfect generosity. The so-called "good distinction in all confusions" means that in order to abandon bad behavior and perfect the perfection of morality, one should always observe what causes the confusion of the body, the confusion of speech, and the confusion of mind that lead to the decline of morality, and be careful not to let the confusion arise. If you do this, you will be able to stay away from bad behavior and perfect the perfection of morality. The so-called "likewise endure all sufferings" means that with the perfection of patience, for the benefit of oneself and sentient beings, one should practice and endure the experience of various kinds of inner and outer sufferings, which should be done constantly. If you do this, you will be able to abandon hatred and perfect the perfection of patience. The so-called "good deeds should also be practiced" means that with the perfection of diligence, one should always practice worldly and transcendental good deeds. If you do this, you will be able to abandon laziness and perfect the perfection of diligence. The so-called "not indulging in the taste of happiness" means that with the perfection of meditation, one should not be greedy for the taste of the happiness of meditation, and should always experience the taste of meditation. If you do this, you will not fall from meditation, and you will quickly perfect the perfection of meditation. The so-called "not distinguishing between all appearances" means that with the perfection of wisdom, one should not distinguish between the appearances of existence and non-existence for oneself, the Dharma, and sentient beings, etc., which should be done constantly. If you do this
