If it is said that seeing, etc., is caused by the nature of disintegration, then in that case, the self would become impermanent, therefore, admitting permanence would be meaningless. Apart from the aspects of permanence and impermanence, there is no third aspect that is neither permanent nor impermanent. Why? Because permanence and impermanence are contradictory dharmas, where there is permanence, there is no impermanence. Where there is impermanence, there is no permanence. Therefore, it is not possible to establish one dharma as being both permanent and not impermanent in two ways. Moreover, if it is not permanent, then it becomes impermanent, and the faults of impermanence have already been mentioned before. If it is not impermanent, then it becomes permanent, and the faults of permanence have also been mentioned before. If it is said that actions arise from the cause of a person, but it remains the same, it cannot be a cause because it did not exist before. Like this, it is also unreasonable for actions such as seeing forms to arise from the cause and condition of a person. Why? Because a person remains permanent in that way. Just as one can see forms when one opens one's eyes, one should also be able to see forms when one does not open one's eyes, because one did not see forms before opening one's eyes. Since one only begins to see forms later, it is unreasonable for a person to become a cause and condition. To show that meaning, if it arises from that cause, then persons would not disappear either, why would the action not exist before when they are born? If it is said that actions such as seeing forms arise from the cause of a person, then in that case, persons should not disappear either. Because persons are permanent, actions such as seeing forms should not disappear either, they should exist at all times. If that were the case, it would not be the case that the action of seeing forms only arises when one opens one's eyes and sees forms, why does it not arise before that? If the action of seeing forms should also arise before that, because it did not arise before, a person cannot be a cause. Like this, sometimes it arises, sometimes it does not arise, then

Therefore, it is unreasonable for it to arise from permanence. Destruction also cannot be a cause, because it is impermanent. Here it says that as a sentient being, the nature of being destroyed and impermanent cannot be a cause either. Why? Because sentient beings are considered by others to be of a permanent nature, therefore, sentient beings become impermanent, so admitting permanence is meaningless. Starting from "neither existing nor being destroyed, becoming a third situation, no situation exists," it has already been said above that permanence cannot be a cause, and it has also been said that impermanence cannot be a cause, therefore, the third situation that is neither permanent nor impermanent does not exist. Because in one thing, it is neither permanent nor impermanent, it is unreasonable to establish the two together. If it is not permanent, then it falls into the side of impermanence; if it is not impermanent, then it falls into the side of permanence, so that side has already been excluded before. Thus, relying on one, sentient beings as entities are invisible. From here on, it has been proven by direct perception and inference that sentient beings are not entities, and now the scriptural authority is also used to prove that sentient beings are not entities. "All dharmas are without self, empty in the ultimate sense. Attachment to self is also a fault, because that has also been explained." Here it says that the scriptures also say that sentient beings are not entities. The scriptures say that in the Four Dharma Sutra, "All conditioned things are impermanent, all conditioned things are suffering, all dharmas are without self, peace is nirvana," it says that all dharmas of conditioned and unconditioned are without self. In the Hearer's Sutra Pitaka, "Emptiness in the Ultimate Sense," it also says, "All dharmas are empty in the ultimate sense." Starting from one treatise of the Hearers, and in many treatises such as the Dirghagama Sutra, in the treatises of the Dirghagama Sutra, from the categories starting from one dharma, starting from two dharmas, starting from three dharmas, starting from four dharmas, starting from five dharmas, in the explanation of the five aggregates starting from five, it is said that "because of attachment to self, five faults will arise," therefore, sentient beings do not exist as entities.
