A single pour doesn't appear very large, but each moment gradually appears larger and larger. In seasons like winter and spring, when there is little rain and strong sunlight, even a day won't dry it up all at once, but each moment gradually becomes smaller and drier, so water is momentary. If each moment doesn't arise, then there is no cause for later change, and neither of these situations is acceptable. If this water were permanent, and each moment the previous moment didn't disappear and the later moment didn't gradually increase, and it didn't gradually decrease when drying up, then there would be no cause for appearing large at one time, and no cause for appearing small at one time. If it were permanent, then it would either always appear large, or always appear small, and it would be impossible for it to sometimes appear large and sometimes appear small. Wind is also momentary because of its nature of movement, arising, and ceasing. Wind is also said to be momentary because of the reason of its nature of movement, the reason of arising, and the reason of ceasing. To explain this point in detail, for something that is static, there is no movement, and the absence of movement has already been proven. It is not momentary, for something that exists with the characteristic of permanence, there is no nature of going from one place to another. For permanent things, the absence of movement has already been proven. How was it proven? Except for things going to other places in a momentary way, there is nothing that can make things go from one place to another, this has already been proven. Wind is not like that, it rises from directions like the east and blows towards directions like the west, so it is moving, therefore it should be recognized as momentary. Similarly, because it is static, there is no arising and ceasing. Permanent things never arise and cease at any time, therefore it is impossible for it to sometimes arise and sometimes cease. If that were the case, then it would not be wind.

This earth initially arises small and gradually increases in size; initially arises large and gradually decreases in size, therefore it should be recognized as momentary. The earth is born from that (water, wind), and for the sake of four changes, the meaning of this statement is that saying the earth is momentary is also based on the reason of being born from that (water, wind), and the reason of four changes, it is said to be momentary. In order to show what the word "born from that (water, wind)" refers to, it is said that "that (དེ་) refers to water and wind," that is, the word "that (དེ་)" refers to water and wind, because the earth is born from water and wind, so it should be recognized as momentary. In order to show how the earth is born from water and wind, it is said that "formation arises together with water and wind, therefore it is their fruit," meaning that when the world was first formed, initially due to the power of karma, the element of wind formed in the sky. Then rain fell like a continuously rotating wheel, and the element of water formed. Then the wind moved the water, and from the foam of the water, Mount Sumeru and the four continents and so on transformed, therefore the earth is the fruit of water and wind, and water and wind are the cause of earth. Because it is their fruit, it should also be recognized as momentary. The fruit of water and wind, water and wind are proven to be momentary, therefore their fruit should also be recognized as momentary, because it is impossible for a permanent phenomenon that is not momentary to arise from a momentary cause, which has already been proven earlier. The meaning of the statement "four changes are observed on the earth" is that because four different changes such as color and shape are observed on it, unlike before, it should be recognized as momentary. For the sake of the differences in the karma of sentient beings, and because of what is created by karma, the earth changes due to the power of what is created by karma, for example, in places such as the heavens, due to the power of the virtuous karma of the gods, the ground becomes as soft as cotton, and in places such as the hells of sentient beings, due to the differences in the non-virtuous karma of the hell beings, the ground becomes as hot as red-hot iron, as well as cliffs and thorns.
