Because it is shown by the logic of scripture. For example, it is said that a monk has attained meditative absorption, and so on. In order to show the meaning of following the minds of sentient beings, it is said that because it follows sentient beings, and so on. For example, all conditioned things follow the mind. How is it? For example, the minds of sentient beings who commit evil deeds, by the power of their minds, cause the color, smell, and taste of crops, etc., to become weak, and things like gold appear as coal, etc. The minds of those who perform meritorious deeds cause grains, etc., to appear with perfect color and smell, and bad things appear as jewels, etc. Therefore, conditioned things appear to be the fruit of the mind. In order to conclude these words, it is said, "Therefore, they are momentary." As mentioned above, since conditioned things are the fruit of the mind, conditioned things should be recognized as momentary. In order to show that meaning, it is said, "Because it follows it, it is impossible for a momentary fruit not to exist after a moment." All fruits follow the cause, and whatever cause is planted, the fruit arises in the same way. For example, if a seed of rice is planted, then the fruit also ripens as the fruit of rice. Similarly, since the cause of conditioned things is the momentary mind, its fruit, conditioned things, should also be recognized as momentary. The mind is momentary, and its fruit, conditioned things, is not momentary, which becomes an object of examination, is unreasonable. Thus, conditioned things are temporarily established as momentary by two verses without distinction. Up to this point, the internal and external conditioned things have not been distinguished separately, but have been combined and shown as momentary by two verses. This is its meaning. Also, in order to establish the internal ones, it should be recognized in the verses. Now, with five verses, it is established that the internal conditioned things, namely the mind and mental factors, are momentary. This is its meaning. Initially, it is gradually increasing.
