In order to conclude these, therefore, because each moment is changing, the statement "momentariness is established" is explained. As mentioned above, because the internal and external formations ultimately appear to change, all formations appear to change in each moment. Therefore, all formations are established as momentary. These words show the meaning of "change is easily observed." If asked, "How is it established?" Regarding the statement that "formations are established as momentary," if asked, "By what reason is momentariness established?" this is its meaning. Its reason is stated, namely, "from its cause and effect." In order to show the meaning of the words, that is, the meaning of "the cause of momentariness and the effect of momentariness," it is said: Because the cause is momentary, it can be inferred that the effect produced from it is also momentary; because the effect is momentary, it should be recognized that the cause that produces it is also momentary. In order for the cause to be momentary, the effect is established as momentary. Because the mind is known to be momentary, the eye and form, etc., are transformed from other formations, therefore, these are also established as momentary. It is said: Like this, all consciousnesses, such as eye consciousness, are recognized as momentary by all Buddhists and non-Buddhists. Therefore, because the mind is known to be momentary, the cause of the mind is the eye and form, etc. It is also said in the sutras that eye consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form. Therefore, the effect of formations, the mind, is established as momentary, so the cause that produces it, the formations, are also established as momentary. If others say this: formations are permanent, producing a momentary mind. Therefore, formations are permanent, and the mind produced from it is momentary. In order to show that this is unreasonable, the statement "it is not appropriate for momentariness to arise from non-momentariness" is explained. It is not reasonable for the mind, which is the nature of a momentary effect, to arise from non-momentary and permanent things such as the eye and form. Its example is:

For the sake of teaching. It is said, "Like impermanence arising from permanence." It is impossible for impermanence to arise from permanence. For example, just as impermanent things like pots and cloths do not arise from the permanence of the sky. Because the cause is momentary, it is to establish that the result is also momentary. It is also said, "All formations are the fruit of mind." Furthermore, all formations such as eye and form are the fruit of mind. Formations are the fruit of mind, and mind is their cause. Thus, since mind is momentary, its fruit, formations, should also be understood as momentary. How to understand?" This means, how is it manifest that formations are the fruit of mind, and how is it manifest that since mind is momentary, formations are also momentary? In response, it is said, "Because of holding, dominating, purity, and following sentient beings." Because formations are the fruit of mind, the formations of mind are held, the formations of mind are dominated, formations follow the purity of mind, and formations follow the mind of sentient beings, it is evident that formations are the fruit of mind. To show the meaning of mind holding formations, it is said, "The mind holds the eye, etc., together with the place." The place refers to the body. The mind thus holds the entire body, including the eye faculty. Therefore, formations should be understood as the fruit of mind. To show how the mind holds the body, it is said, "Because of fainting together and following the holding of comfort." Like this, after consciousness enters the mother's womb and faints, initially soft and moist substances, etc., of the body are formed from the impure substances of the parents. As long as consciousness has not entered the mother's womb and fainted, the impure substances of the parents will not become soft and moist, etc. Therefore, since the body follows the mind, the mind completely holds the body.

O! It is also said in the sutra: Good man, if consciousness does not faint in the mother's womb, it will not turn from the parents' impure substance into soft things, etc. Furthermore, if the mind is harmed, the body will also be harmed; if the mind is happy, the body will also become virtuous, because the body follows the mind, and the mind controls the body, therefore, actions are the fruit of (the mind). In order to show the mind's dominance over actions, it is said: The mind is the master of actions. This mind is the master of actions, therefore, actions are the fruit of the mind. In order to show how to dominate with the reasoning of scriptural proof, as the Blessed One also said: This world is led by the mind, and drawn by the mind. Because wherever the mind thinks, the body follows, so it is said to be led and drawn by the mind. Regarding the arising and appearance of the mind, if greed arises in the mind, the body will also follow, the behavior will be frivolous, the face will be smiling, etc., and the appearance will change. If hatred arises in the mind, one will clench fists, the face will be angry, frown, etc., and it will also change, therefore the mind dominates actions. In order to show the reasoning of the second scriptural proof, it is also said in "name and form are conditioned by consciousness", similarly, in other sutras it is also said that name and form arise by the power of consciousness, therefore, actions are the fruit of the mind. In order to show the meaning of following the pure mind, the so-called following the pure mind refers to the pure mind of the yogi, and for them, actions will also change in that way. The so-called following the pure mind, the pure mind refers to the mind of the yogis, and actions will change according to how the yogi's mind thinks, therefore the mind dominates actions. If you ask how the yogi thinks, how will it change?
