Then, the red color of iron arises. To show that reason, it is said, "Like this, because it encounters it, it appears as a different cause from blue." Like this, fire does not destroy blue, but blue itself perishes, and encountering fire gives rise to red. It is not that it is indestructible in all aspects. If fire completely destroys blue from all aspects and makes it disappear, then it should not turn blue even when counting later. Because it appears as blue when counting later, fire does not destroy blue, but the blue before the fire perishes by itself, and the fire establishes the arising of red. If others say that water also boils when it encounters fire, and it appears to be gone from the beginning to the end. It does not appear to be gone before it encounters fire. Like that, because it becomes invisible after encountering fire, just as fire is the cause of destroying water, there is also a cause of destruction for things. For example, a vase does not appear to be broken before it encounters clay, but it appears to be broken after encountering clay. Therefore, there is a cause of destruction for things. To show that fire and clay are not the cause of destroying water and vases, water boils and encounters fire, and it becomes less and less. From very little, it finally appears not to arise. It is not that it disappears once it encounters fire. Like this, water boils and encounters fire, and it becomes less and less. Gradually, from very little, it finally appears to be gone. It is not that water becomes invisible immediately after encountering fire. Therefore, fire is not the cause of water disappearing, but water itself perishes by its own nature in a continuum of one moment. Fire only causes it to become less and less at that time. Fire is not the cause of destroying water. Others say, if fire is the cause of arising water, but not the cause of destroying water, and fire arises water, then water should appear in the end. Why does it become invisible? Even if they object like this, the answer is that water becomes invisible because

The previous moment of water's depletion is the end and encounter. There are no other auxiliary causes to generate the subsequent moment of water. Because it lacks causes and conditions, water is not produced. Therefore, water eventually becomes invisible. If fire makes water disappear, then water should disappear immediately upon encountering fire. However, water does not disappear immediately upon encountering it, so fire is not the cause of water's destruction. Furthermore, this needs further examination: If fire is the cause of water's destruction, does fire destroy water that does not have the nature of destruction, or does fire destroy water that has the nature of destruction? If water is of a nature that is not destroyed by fire, then for something that does not have the nature of destruction, destruction is impossible, and no cause can destroy it. For example, just as space is indestructible, no cause or condition can destroy it. If water is of a destructive nature, then water itself will be destroyed, and no other cause is needed to destroy it. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to say that pots and the like are destroyed by causes such as hammers. Why? If the hammer is the cause of the destruction of the pot, then when the hammer destroys the pot, does it destroy the pot itself, or does it destroy something other than the pot? If the hammer destroys the pot itself, then the hammer only makes the pot, but does not destroy the pot, then it is contradictory to say that the hammer is the cause of destroying the pot. If the hammer destroys something that is not the pot, then the hammer has done something else and has not done anything to the pot, so the hammer cannot destroy the pot. For example, just as giving happiness and unhappiness to a sacrifice does nothing to the donor. Furthermore, if the hammer destroys the pot, does the hammer destroy the pot that has the nature of destruction, or does the hammer destroy the pot that does not have the nature of destruction? If the pot is of a destructive nature, then it will destroy itself, and no other cause such as a hammer is needed to destroy it. If the pot is not of a destructive nature, then it cannot be destroyed, and no cause can destroy it. If examined in this way, the hammer only produces fragments, not the pot.
