There are three types. All of those are thus completely explained. As it is said, just as there are five ways to practice generosity, similarly, for the remaining ones from ethics to wisdom, it is explained that there are five ways to practice, from abiding in objects to abiding in power. That is the meaning. Among them, abiding in objects has four aspects, namely: the term "object," the term "meaning," and the term "substance" all have the same meaning. Why is "substance" manifested as an object? The sutra says that a son or daughter of good family who possesses the seven qualities of substance constantly increases merit. Therefore, there are also four ways to practice while abiding in objects: abiding in cause, abiding in fruition, abiding in aspiration, and abiding in the power of individual analysis. Regarding "by the power of lineage," etc., abiding in cause is as follows: even without relying on or approaching a virtuous friend, etc., who is of the lineage to be generous, by the power of having the lineage of a bodhisattva, in whatever lifetimes one is born, one delights in giving in those very lifetimes. Thus, from beginningless time in samsara, having passed from one place to another, one possesses such distinctions as the six sense sources, beginning with the eye, by the nature of things. Therefore, even without being shown by a virtuous friend, one delights in accomplishing and practicing the six perfections. Engaging in the six perfections is called abiding in cause. Regarding "by the power of whose own perfect body," etc., abiding in fruition is as follows: a bodhisattva should familiarize himself with the perfections, such as generosity, in other lifetimes. Having thus familiarized himself, by that power, in future lifetimes, a body that delights in performing and practicing the perfections, such as generosity, will be manifestly accomplished and matured. Thus, by the power of fruition, one engages in the perfections even without examining or thinking. That is called abiding in fruition. Regarding "by the power of whose former aspiration," etc., abiding in aspiration is as follows: by his former generosity, etc.

The perfection of going beyond is not actually practiced, it is merely making aspirations. How does one make aspirations? Like this, in whatever lifetimes I am born, may I be free from the thoughts of "I" and "mine," not relying on any internal or external things, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, may I practice generosity and other perfections. By the power of that aspiration, wherever I am born, may I practice generosity and other perfections. This is called abiding in aspiration. Regarding "by the power of wisdom" and so on, abiding in the power of individual discernment is like this: by the power of wisdom, one meditates on and practices generosity and other perfections. How? These enjoyments are impermanent like dreams, unsatisfying, and of the nature of decay and separation. Having fully examined them with the power of wisdom, by the power of such examination, one enters into and practices the perfections. This is called abiding in the power of individual discernment. Similarly, regarding ethics and so on, having guarded and practiced ethics and so on, one accumulates the collections of merit and wisdom, takes birth among gods and humans, and ultimately attains unsurpassed enlightenment. Having examined it with wisdom, one engages in ethics and so on. This is called the power of individual discernment. Abiding in the mindfulness of the perfections is of four types, that is, abiding in mindfulness. There are four types of meditating on the perfections: mindfulness of faith, mindfulness of savoring, mindfulness of rejoicing, and mindfulness of delight. Regarding the sutras that accord with the perfections and so on, mindfulness of faith, from which sutra do the six perfections arise and are explained? Regarding the Noble Jewel Cloud Sutra and so on, one has faith that this is the truth, just as it is, without error. As one has faith, so does the element of the perfections increase. This is called mindfulness of faith. The perfections...

Relying on and so on. The mind-making of savoring is that I used to practice and cultivate generosity and other perfections. The previous cultivation is like this: It is good that I used to cultivate generosity and other perfections. Thus, looking at the merits, remembering what I did before, and rejoicing in the present is the mind-making of savoring. All the worlds and so on. The mind-making of rejoicing is that all sentient beings dwelling in the ten directions of the world cultivate generosity and other perfections. I rejoice and rejoice like them, which is the mind-making of rejoicing. Me and sentient beings, etc. The mind-making of rejoicing is that in the future, I will also be happy to cultivate the six perfections. No matter where sentient beings are born, may they cultivate the six perfections. In the future, I will also be happy for other sentient beings to cultivate the six perfections. No matter where sentient beings are born, may they cultivate the six perfections. This is the mind-making of rejoicing. Meditating on the sixth perfection while dwelling in intention is to observe the six aspects of the intention of not knowing satisfaction, etc., as stated in the commentary itself. Among them, the bodhisattva's generosity is the intention of not knowing satisfaction, etc. The mind-making of intention is divided into six types, and it is gradually explained in conjunction with the perfection of generosity. Among them, there are also four types of not knowing satisfaction in the intention of not knowing satisfaction, namely, not knowing satisfaction in giving things, not knowing satisfaction in giving the body, not knowing satisfaction in time, and not knowing satisfaction in sentient beings. Bodhisattva to a sentient being, etc. In order to benefit a sentient being and make it mature, the Bodhisattva fills the world with seven treasures as many as the sands of the Ganges River and gives it to that only sentient being. After giving it like this, I have given so much, and now I have enough thoughts.
