Furthermore, what is the branch of equanimity of perfect enlightenment? It refers to the mind not being controlled by aspects of comfort and discomfort, not being seized by worldly dharmas, and being unmoving because it does not dwell in high or low positions, and so on. Therefore, the seven branches of enlightenment are placed in the aspect of calm abiding, the aspect of insight, and the aspect of both. Discrimination of dharma, diligence, and joy are the aspects of insight. Pliancy, samadhi, and equanimity are the aspects of calm abiding. Mindfulness is the aspect of both, because it is all-pervasive. The branches of enlightenment of one who has entered the ground, one should know their classification. This verse and others explain at what time the seven branches of enlightenment are arranged, and by knowing what the seven branches of enlightenment are arranged. The seven branches of enlightenment refer to understanding the arrangement of meditating on the seven branches when entering the first ground and attaining the ground of great joy. This shows at what time they are arranged. The equality of dharma and all minds is knowledge. Why are the seven branches of enlightenment arranged for meditation at the time of the first ground? Because at that time, one understands the selflessness of phenomena and persons, and one understands the equality of self and others. Therefore, by knowing the equality of all dharmas and by knowing the equality of all sentient beings, the meditation on the seven branches of enlightenment is arranged at the time of the first ground. Because one understands the selflessness of phenomena, one knows the equality of phenomena. Because one understands the selflessness of persons, one knows the equality of all sentient beings. Alternatively, because one understands the selflessness of phenomena and persons, one knows the equality of all dharmas. Because one understands the equality of self and others, one knows the equality of sentient beings. Alternatively, at the time of the first ground, because one realizes the nature of the all-pervading dharma-dhatu, one understands the equality of all dharmas. Having understood in this way, whatever I am, all sentient beings are also the same. Whatever all sentient beings are, I am also the same. For example, my suffering

Just as suffering is pacified, understanding that the suffering of all sentient beings should also be pacified, therefore it is called knowing the equality of all sentient beings. This shows what is established by knowing the limbs of enlightenment. After that, in order to show that the limbs of enlightenment are like the seven jewels such as the wheel jewel, from the verses below, for example, the wheel-turning king has the wheel jewel, the elephant jewel, the horse jewel, the jewel, the queen jewel, the householder jewel, and the general jewel, just like the bodhisattva who has attained the first ground is like the wheel-turning king, and the seven limbs of enlightenment such as mindfulness are like the wheel jewel and so on. Mindfulness acts on all knowable objects, for the sake of overcoming the unconquered. This sentence means that mindfulness, the limb of enlightenment, is like the wheel jewel. For example, the wheel jewel of the wheel-turning king exists in order to conquer the unconquered small countries stationed in castles and cities, and enters those places. Similarly, the correct mindfulness limb of enlightenment also overcomes the unconquered knowable objects, and enters in order to know and conquer those unmanifested things. The knowable object is the first ground of conquest. The unconquered refers to the ground of practice by aspiration, because mindfulness abandons the ground of practice by aspiration and manifests the first ground, therefore it can conquer the unconquered knowable objects. Destroying all the marks of discrimination, that is good discernment. This sentence means that the discriminating Dharma limb of enlightenment is like the elephant jewel of the wheel-turning king. How is it like that? For example, the elephant jewel can destroy the enemy's army formations, similarly, the discriminating Dharma limb of enlightenment can also destroy the marks of discrimination of persons and the marks of discrimination of dharmas, therefore it is like the elephant jewel. Alternatively, the word "discrimination" refers to the grasping dharmas of the eye and other senses, and the word "mark" refers to form and so on.
