It means that. Why? Because there is the lineage of patience. Even if one has not heard the sutra that explains the perfection of patience, one can still endure sufferings such as harm done by others and not generate anger, which is the meaning of that. As for what is called "individually examining meditation," individual examination refers to wisdom. Having heard the sutras that possess the perfection of patience, one understands that all phenomena are like illusions, dreams, and mirages, and one endures and accepts suffering and harm. Such is the meaning of meditating with individual examination. Or, the harm that others have done to me, and the suffering of cold and heat that I experience, are also because in a previous life I harmed others, so in this life I will experience suffering. If I cause harm, then in future lives I will also experience suffering, so no matter what harm occurs, I should endure it, thinking in this way is called meditating with individual examination. Steadfastness of nature and individual examination are the causes of the complete maturation of patience. Suffering, cold, etc., do not always recede. This means that in order to fully ripen sentient beings and to fully ripen the Buddha's teachings, even if sufferings such as cold, heat, mosquitoes, flies, hunger, and thirst occur, one should accept them and not turn back one's mind, which is called non-regression, this is the nature of patience. What is called "going beyond" refers to the ten grounds, where patience is abandoned from higher to higher, and the amount becomes greater and greater, which is called going beyond, this is one aspect of the activity of patience. What is called "rejoicing in virtue" refers to those who possess patience rejoicing in practicing the six perfections, this is the second aspect of the activity of patience. What is called "desiring the characteristics of the complete maturation of patience" means that, as explained above, if one possesses the cause, nature, and activity of patience, then patience is completely matured, which is the meaning of that. What is called "verses composed from the complete maturation of mental sharpness" means that mindfulness and wisdom are both mental sharpness. Or,

The term "sharp mind" is another name for wisdom, also called "sharp mind," and also called "wisdom." Therefore, in those sutras, the Blessed One, with wisdom as the main focus, said, "Those with wisdom, those with sharp minds, are the wise." In reality, for those who have not comprehended that one true essence, and who for countless eons have engaged in virtuous deeds such as listening and contemplating, their wisdom is called "sharp mind." Therefore, in order to show that only by possessing the three—the cause, nature, and action—of sharp mind can sharp mind be fully matured, verses are composed, and that is its meaning. The term "pure maturation" refers to having listened to the sacred Dharma and performed virtuous deeds such as contemplation in previous lives, so that wherever one is born, one obtains the five aggregates that are complete with all faculties such as the eyes, and that naturally possess the characteristics of sharp wisdom. This is called "pure maturation," and it shows the cause of the maturation of sharp mind. The term "not forgetting what is heard, etc." indicates that above, both mindfulness and wisdom are called sharp mind. Because one possesses mindfulness, one remembers and does not forget the hearing of the sacred Dharma, thinking, meditation, etc., as well as what actions were done previously through the body and what words were spoken through speech, that is its meaning. The term "similarly, fully understanding what is well-spoken and what is poorly spoken" means that because one possesses wisdom, one can recognize and understand the good and bad words spoken by oneself and others, understanding that "this person's words are not mistaken, they are well-spoken," and understanding that "this person's words are mistaken, they are poorly spoken." Not forgetting what is heard, etc., and being able to understand what is well-spoken and what is poorly spoken, is the nature of sharp mind. The term "it is mindfulness" means that not forgetting what is heard, etc., is due to mindfulness. The term "able to generate great wisdom" means that because one does not forget what has been done and is able to recognize good and bad, thereby generating discriminating wisdom, one is able to generate wisdom that transcends the world, therefore it is said to be able to generate great wisdom, and this is its action. Among these, the wisdom that transcends the world
