The collection of the path of accumulation, the path of application, the path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the ultimate path. These paths are the cause of extreme peace and maturity, that is its meaning. Abandoning afflictive emotions and conceptualizations, the afflictive emotions of a Bodhisattva are conceptualizations, that is, conceptualizations about desire, conceptualizations about hatred, conceptualizations about existence, conceptualizations about non-existence, conceptualizations about permanence, conceptualizations about impermanence, and so on. Abandoning these conceptualizations is the nature of extreme peace and complete maturity. Without obstruction, contemplating impurity as an antidote to desire, contemplating loving-kindness as an antidote to hatred, contemplating dependent origination as an antidote to ignorance, there is no obstruction. Constantly practicing meditation is one way to achieve extreme peace and complete maturity. Being extremely delighted in virtue means practicing the six perfections from generosity to wisdom, and being naturally delighted in meditation. This is two ways to achieve complete maturity. In order to eliminate the afflictive emotions of the sons of the Victorious Ones, one desires the characteristic of true and complete maturity. The meaning is that in order to eliminate the conceptual afflictive emotions of the Bodhisattvas, the cause, nature, and action of complete maturity are the characteristics of the extreme peace of the afflictive emotions of the Bodhisattvas, and one desires the characteristic of complete maturity. Having made the characteristic of compassion's complete maturity the main focus, the verses are composed to show that when one sees sentient beings suffering, one enters to eliminate the suffering of sentient beings, which is compassion. To show how much love arises in the mind, and thus compassion is completely matured, these verses are composed. That is, having the cause, nature, and action of compassion, one shows that compassion is completely matured. Compassion and nature, the word nature refers to lineage, meaning having the lineage of compassion. In the Yogacarabhumi Sutra, it is said: Lineage, element, seed, and nature, these meanings are the same, only different names. Thus it is said. Others

The so-called 'seeing suffering' means seeing other sentient beings suffering from birth, old age, not getting what they want, and other sufferings, and thinking that their suffering should be relieved. This is the meaning of compassion. The so-called 'also should completely abandon the small mind' refers to the mind of the Hinayana, that is, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas abandon the benefit of other sentient beings and enter Nirvana. Abandoning this mind, thinking of wandering in Samsara for the benefit of sentient beings, this is abandoning the small mind. The nature of compassion, seeing others suffering and generating compassion, and abandoning the small mind, these three are the causes of the perfection of compassion. The so-called 'superior progress' means that the above-mentioned three causes are the cause, and compassion also becomes greater and greater, such as the compassion at the first Bhumi is smaller than the compassion at the second Bhumi, and the compassion at the ninth Bhumi is smaller than the compassion at the tenth Bhumi. This is superior progress, which is the nature of the perfection of compassion. The so-called 'becoming the best of beings' means that the Bodhisattva with such compassion, when realizing the pervading Dharmadhatu at the first Bhumi, obtains a body adorned with excellent marks and characteristics that surpasses all sentient beings. This is becoming the best of beings, which shows the karma. The so-called 'composing verses from the aspect of the perfection of patience' means that in accomplishing the perfect Dharma and perfecting sentient beings, enduring sufferings such as cold and heat is patience. How much suffering can be endured, that is the perfection of patience. This is the meaning of composing verses. This also shows that only by possessing the cause, nature, and action of the perfection of patience can it be perfect. The so-called 'nature is firm' means that firmness, patience, non-forgetfulness, non-hatred, etc. are different names for patience. Nature here refers to lineage, that is, nature has the lineage of patience.
