What is done is the accumulation of merit. Listening to the sacred Dharma from those Tathagatas, and contemplating and meditating, is the accumulation of wisdom. Or, practicing generosity, discipline, and patience for countless eons is the accumulation of merit. Meditating on concentration and wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom. Diligence is the accumulation of both. Or, practicing the five perfections from generosity to concentration is the accumulation of merit. Meditating on the perfection of wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom. 'Having great conviction in the Dharma.' Regarding how to accumulate the accumulations of merit and wisdom, through the Samadhi of meditating on impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness, contemplating the impermanence, emptiness, and selflessness of the Dharmas of the twelve divisions of scripture, thereby ascertaining that there is no doubt about the meaning of impermanence and emptiness, etc., is called 'having great conviction in the Dharma.' This shows that relying on Samadhi, one obtains a firm conviction in the Dharma. Up to this point, three verses explain the path of accumulation. 'Having the cause of realization, realizing the aspects of objects.' The aspects of objects refer to external phenomena such as forms and sounds, as well as woolen cloth, etc. Having accumulated the accumulations of merit and wisdom, and having obtained firm conviction in the Dharma, one realizes that all things such as pots and woolen cloth arise from causes, and do not exist separately from the mind. This is called 'having the cause of realization, realizing the aspects of objects.' This shows the understanding that objects appear from the mind's conceptualization. Such realization is also shown at the time of Samadhi when appearance is obtained at the heat stage of the Land of Adhimukti-carya. The meaning summarized by the two lines, 'By mere conceptualization, he knows all objects. He dwells only in the mind that appears,' is: it shows seeing that all objects appear from the mind, and dwelling in the mind-only. 'Objects' refers to forms, sounds, and other apprehended phenomena. How do the apprehended phenomena arise from the mind?

Therefore, the manifest arising is that phenomena are cognized by mere conceptualization, and through this word, the appearance of phenomena is shown to be seen. This is the samadhi of the increasing appearance at the crown of the decisive aspect. The so-called "appearance" refers to the phenomena of the apprehended that appear in consciousness. Abandoning the apprehended aspect and abiding in the mind-only dharma that is separate from the apprehended is to abide thoroughly in mind-only. This shows abiding in mind-only. This is the samadhi of entering into one aspect only at the time of forbearance of the decisive aspect. The path of joining is shown up to this point. It is said that the dharmadhatu also becomes very manifest. From then on, below the part of the decisive samadhi, the path of seeing of the first bhumi is generated. The path of seeing makes the dharmadhatu manifest with non-conceptual wisdom, which is its meaning. Then, the characteristics and aspects of the two are separated. It means that in the path of seeing, the dharmadhatu becomes manifest, and then it is also separated from the characteristic of the obscuration of the apprehended, and also separated from the characteristic of the obscuration of the apprehender, and abides in the non-dual dharmadhatu. This shows the path of seeing. Now, the third verse shows the cause and method of how the dharmadhatu becomes manifest in the path of seeing. Therefore, "Since there is nothing other than mind, it is known by wisdom. Therefore, it is also extremely realized that mind is also non-existent." And so on, one verse is mentioned. In this way, at the time of forbearance, the obscuration of the apprehended is abandoned, and at the time of the supreme worldly dharma, it is realized that if there is no apprehended, there is no apprehender. How is it realized? Just as these pots and cloths and so on do not exist separately from the mind. In this way, because there is no external object, it is also realized that there is no mind that focuses on this, because there is no apprehended, it is impossible for there to be an apprehender. Those with intelligence realize that both are non-existent. The so-called one with intelligence refers to a Bodhisattva, who, at the time of the supreme worldly dharma, understands that the apprehended and the apprehender are both non-existent, thereby abandoning the obscuration of the apprehended and the apprehender.
