Also, because it is mistaken, it is called abiding in confusion. Because of this, various sufferings such as birth and aging arise, so it is called suffering by nature. Thus, beings are always abiding in confusion and are also suffering. Why have they not realized such a nature? It is like what is said below, covered by great darkness. Without wisdom, it is because there is no nature of undefiled true wisdom that understands that these things are mistaken and are suffering, so it is called without wisdom. With wisdom, it is because with the knowledge of true wisdom, there is also the experience of pleasure and pain with defiled consciousness, as well as neither pleasure nor pain, so it is said to have wisdom. Suffering itself, although experiencing three kinds of feelings, all three feelings are the nature of suffering. Because all three feelings have abandoned the nature of suffering. How is it? The feeling of suffering has not abandoned the suffering of its own nature. The feeling of pleasure has not abandoned the suffering of change. The feeling of neither pleasure nor pain has not abandoned the suffering of conditioning. Therefore, all three feelings are suffering. No suffering, the heretics say that those sufferings are felt by me. Although there are three kinds of suffering, there is no self that possesses the three kinds of suffering and experiences them, so it is said to be without suffering. Dharma is real, thus, I am also non-existent in the conventional, but the dharmas such as aggregates and elements exist in the conventional as illusions and mirages, so it is said that "Dharma is real." These words show the selflessness of the person. It is not real, in the ultimate sense, that dharma is also without self-nature and without self, it is emptiness, so it is said that "it is not real." This sentence shows the selflessness of phenomena. Things appear dependently arising, how do beings rely on others to act.

That is, both arise dependently and harmoniously, which is clearly seen by everyone in the world. How to understand it? External things also appear to arise from the causes and conditions of seeds and land, as well as water, fire, wind, etc. The five internal aggregates also appear to arise from the causes and conditions of ignorance and action, as well as the blood and semen of parents. These dharmas do not arise dependently and harmoniously, but are made by me and the maker, etc. Why should we observe and think like that? Because we see what does not exist and do not see what exists. What kind of darkness is that? Regarding this question, the darkness that is said in the world is that it makes people unable to see existing things. It is not that it cannot see existence but can see non-existence. Darkness does not exist. The darkness of ignorance that exists in the minds of sentient beings is that it makes people unable to see the nature of the internal and external dharmas arising dependently and harmoniously, but can see the "self" imagined by heretics. That kind of darkness is different from the darkness of the world, and is a surprising darkness. In the verse called "Selflessness is peaceful and can be born", the word "self" also refers to the "self" imagined by heretics and the alias of Pudgala, such as sentient beings, life, Pudgala, powerful one, power, etc. The word "self" is also used for dharma, such as saying "dharma with self-nature", which means "dharma with self". In this regard, it was said earlier that "self" does not exist, it is only dharma, and in the ultimate sense, dharma does not exist either. Heretics and Shravakas refuted this by saying "exists". These heretics, due to being inverted, cling to selflessness as self. These Shravakas cling to dharma in a reversed way. They believe that dharmas such as form are real in nature, just as ordinary people think. Both of these, due to being inverted, abide in the view of self and the view of dharma, and think that I also exists.
