It is also seen that there is present Dharma. Therefore, the Tirthikas think that I am bound and liberated. The Shravakas think that Dharma is bound and liberated. If there is no self and Dharma, how can there be liberation? Who is liberated? How is there bondage? Who is bound? Therefore, they argue that there is self and Dharma. Therefore, in order to show that even without self and Dharma, Nirvana can be attained, and that it is possible to be reborn in Samsara, a verse is composed, and that is its meaning. Peace and birth, in terms of the ultimate truth, there is not the slightest difference between the two. What is called peace refers to Nirvana, which is the cessation of old age and death due to ignorance. Birth refers to the nature of Samsara, which is the cause of old age and death due to the cause of ignorance. Samsara and Nirvana are both equal in the nature of selflessness in the ultimate sense. How so? Just as Samsara is empty of the self and Dharma that are conceived by children, so Nirvana is also empty of the self and Dharma that are conceived by children. In this way, since they are empty of the nature of self and Dharma, both Samsara and Nirvana are the same. Therefore, Samsara is Nirvana. Because it is such a reason, there is not the slightest difference between Samsara and Nirvana that can be established as different. That is its meaning. If that is the case, why is it said that ordinary people abide in Samsara and the noble ones attain Nirvana? Therefore, it is said: However, those who do virtuous deeds are said to attain peace by the exhaustion of birth. What is called birth refers to Samsara. Samsara arises from the perverted mind that is not in accordance with the truth, such as clinging to impermanence as permanence. Nirvana is attained by abandoning perversion by properly attending to impermanence and suffering. Although what is called self and Dharma will not become Nirvana, those who practice the thirty-seven branches of enlightenment by relying on properly attending to impermanence and so on,

The very exhaustion of the nature of arising from perverted views is said to be the attainment of nirvana. Apart from that, there is no other meaning of nirvana. This verse shows the attainment of the common nirvana of both Mahayana and Hinayana. Now, from here onwards, it shows how Bodhisattvas attain the uncommon nirvana. In order to reproach perverted views and enter into the wisdom of the ultimate truth that is the antidote to them, it is said that there are four verses. Among the two kinds of ultimate truth, up to this point, the ultimate truth of Suchness has been shown. Now, it shows the ultimate truth of the nature of non-conceptual wisdom. Above, it was said that sentient beings abide in delusion, and although they are tormented by suffering, they are deluded by being suppressed by perverted views, and although they do not comprehend suffering, after reproaching perverted views in this way, now, taking the uncommon non-conceptual wisdom as the main antidote to them, in order to show how Bodhisattvas, through that non-conceptual wisdom, realize the selflessness of all phenomena and attain the Buddha-ground, the meaning is that four verses are composed. From here onwards, there will be five verses, of which four verses show the path of accumulation, the path of preparation, the path of seeing, and the path of cultivation. The fifth verse shows the ultimate path. Bodhisattvas of merit and wisdom, boundless other shore of accumulations, after accumulating, etc. The meaning summarized by the first verse is that it shows the accumulation of great accumulations, the attainment of mind when abiding in samadhi and being certain about the Dharma, and the understanding of the appearance of all phenomena from the mind's discrimination. Among them, the Bodhisattva's accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom are boundless, that is, after accumulating for one countless eon, from the attainment of the path of seeing and the first ground, it is called reaching the other shore, and the word "other shore" refers to the attainment of the first ground. This shows the accumulation of great accumulations, that is, serving the Tathagata with banners and umbrellas, etc., for one countless eon.
