In order to show that the view of self is not the nature of self, it is said, "The view of self itself is not the characteristic of self." The term "view of self" refers to the view of the perishable collection. That very view of the perishable collection is not the nature of the permanent self as conceived by the non-Buddhists. Why? Because its nature is different. It is said, "Its nature is different." Thus, the nature of the view of the perishable collection is also different, and the nature of the self as conceived by the non-Buddhists is also different. Because the two have different natures, the view of the perishable collection itself is not the nature of self. How are the natures different? The non-Buddhists consider the self to be uncompounded, permanent, pervasive, and not performing actions. The view of the perishable collection is a mental phenomenon, and the mind is compounded, impermanent, non-pervasive, and performs three kinds of actions, so the natures are different. The perishable collection Also, the five aggregates, which are the basis of the view, are not the nature of self. To show this, it is said, "Not a place of evil." The term "evil" refers to the tendency towards the view of the perishable collection. These five aggregates are the basis of the view of the perishable collection, and are the abode of afflictions, produced by evil karma, so they are called a place of evil. The five aggregates of the place of evil are also not the nature of self. Why? Because its nature is different. It is said, "Therefore, the nature is different." The nature conceived by the non-Buddhists is also different, and the nature of the five aggregates is also different. Because the natures are different, the five aggregates themselves are not self. Why? Because the self is considered to be uncompounded, permanent, pervasive, and not performing actions. The five aggregates are compounded, impermanent, non-pervasive, and perform actions, so the natures are different. To show that, apart from it, the self cannot exist elsewhere, it is said, "Not two." Apart from the view of the perishable collection and the five aggregates, that which is called self cannot exist elsewhere. Why? Because it is not an object of direct perception, nor is it an object of inference. Thus, all existing things are either objects of direct perception, i.e.

etc. Or it becomes the object of inference (inference) as a measure (pramana). For example, although the eye faculty is invisible, it is inferred that there is an eye faculty through the cause of generating eye consciousness. So, even if I measure this with two measures (pramana), I cannot see its existence, so it does not exist elsewhere. If there is no self, why do all sentient beings think of "I, I"? Therefore, it is said that this is just an illusion. For example, mistaking a rope for a snake, that rope is not a snake, but is mistakenly seen as a snake; seeing various images in a dream, those images are not real, but are mistakenly seen. The idea of thinking of "I, I" is also inverted, it is just a mind that produces illusion, not the meaning of thinking that things exist. Like this, if I exist, I will be bound by my afflictions, and if I cut off the bondage of afflictions, I will attain liberation. If there is no self, who will attain liberation? Therefore, it is said that liberation is just the disappearance of illusion. For example, mistaking a rope for a snake, when one is liberated from the illusion of the snake and recognizes that it is a rope, one will attain physical happiness and mental happiness. Similarly, on the basis of no-self, the illusion of thinking there is a self disappears, and abandoning this illusion itself is liberation and nirvana. Apart from this, there is no self that can make one attain liberation. Therefore, the word "just" is used to negate the existence of self. In order to completely denigrate inversion, two verses are spoken. All the actions and existence of sentient beings are inverted, and due to the cause of inversion, they always have to experience sufferings such as birth and old age. In this way, sentient beings are both in illusion and suffering. Since they are in illusion and suffering, why don't they understand? Because they are in inversion and covered by ignorance, they do not understand. Therefore, in order to denigrate inversion, these two verses are composed, that is its meaning. Merely being in illusion, its nature is suffering, poor people are always in illusion, why don't they understand? That is to say, worldly people think there is a self, think that I exist, think that dharma exists, think that knowledge exists.
