Regarding actions, the time when enjoyment is exhausted and death arrives is called the time of decline. One will not be frightened by afflictions and suffering. Regarding this, the reversal of the mind of enlightenment is either fearing being bound by afflictions such as desire and abandoning the mind of enlightenment to enter nirvana, or fearing the suffering of birth and aging and abandoning the mind of enlightenment. Bodhisattvas, with the vision of wisdom, see that there is no fear of the suffering of birth and aging in times of prosperity, and they are not tainted by afflictions such as desire. They are not frightened by afflictions. Bodhisattvas, with the accumulation of merit, die and take birth in one lifetime, seeing it like moving from one garden to another, without the fear of the suffering of birth and aging. How could they reverse the mind of enlightenment? They will not reverse it. This is its meaning. Because birth is like a garden, to explain in detail the meaning that was shown. One's own qualities are joyful for the benefit of sentient beings, deliberately taking birth and performing various transformations of miraculous powers, ornaments and food and supreme places, these are the four. There is no compassion for playful joy. It is said that sentient beings go to the garden and perform four actions: bathing the body and adorning it with ornaments, residing in comfortable places, and engaging in various kinds of play such as singing and dancing. In such a garden, the mind enters and does not retreat. Similarly, Bodhisattvas wander in the garden from one lifetime to another, so the ornaments of generosity, discipline, concentration, dharani, and wisdom are the ornaments of their own qualities. The joyful mind that benefits and brings happiness to all sentient beings is like delicious food. For the benefit of sentient beings, one should be born in those places such as gods and humans. Deliberately taking birth in this way is like a supreme garden. For the benefit of sentient beings, manifesting various miraculous powers with the five superknowledges is the play of the Bodhisattvas. If one possesses these four qualities, one will not retreat from the mind of enlightenment, one will not retreat. This is its meaning.

To. These four qualities are impossible for the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas who have abandoned the benefit of themselves and others and have no compassion, meaning that they do not have these qualities. In the section called "Verses to Avert the Fear of Suffering," it says that although Bodhisattvas have no fear of afflictions and no fear of the suffering of death, they think that in samsara, for the benefit of sentient beings, giving away their heads, hands, feet, etc., will cause fear of suffering. In order to show that that suffering also does not exist, this verse is composed, which is the meaning. The verse says: "Those who are diligent and compassionate for the sake of others, even in hell, they hold joyfully, because suffering arises from dependence on others, what is there to fear in all the realms of existence?" The meaning is that "for the sake of others" means causing other sentient beings in this life to turn away from non-virtue and abide in virtue, and in future lives to abide in liberation and to abide in omniscient wisdom, this is called "for the sake of others." Practicing the six perfections for this purpose is called "having diligence." Because other sentient beings suffer, one also feels pain, so it is called "having compassion." Those Bodhisattvas, for the benefit of sentient beings, even if they dwell in the Avici hell, feel happy and comfortable. If there is no weariness, for the benefit of sentient beings, in samsara, what is there to fear from the suffering of merely giving away heads, hands, feet, etc.? The meaning is that there is nothing to fear. In the section called "Verses on Not Abandoning Sentient Beings," it says that even if one does not turn back from the mind of enlightenment and is not afraid of suffering, one thinks that those who have the mind of enlightenment do not do the benefit of sentient beings and abandon sentient beings. In order to show that those who have the mind of enlightenment should not abandon the benefit of sentient beings, this verse is composed, which is the meaning. The verse says: "Always rely on the great compassionate teacher." The meaning is that in the world, for one's own affairs, even if one does not do them without being urged by others, one will feel ashamed and embarrassed, but if others have done things for oneself, and one does not do them even when urged by others, then one is very ashamed. Because it is like that, one should rely on the wise teacher and Khenpo.
