From trees, trunks and flowers, etc., arise, sturdy and beautiful; branches and leaves, etc., arise, elegant and lovely; Therefore, there is cool shade, and abundant fruits benefit others, just as from this Bodhi seed also arise corresponding qualities, therefore this Bodhi seed is like the good root of a tree. For example, from a good tree root grows a thick trunk that is not dry or withered, and various kinds of flowers arise, similarly, from that seed also arise great qualities such as strength and fearlessness, like flowers, and the inexhaustible wisdom, and the great Bodhi tree that will never be shaken, therefore know that the root of the tree will not wither. For example, from a good tree root grow thick branches and leaves, therefore it has cool shade, which can eliminate the heat and suffering of sentient beings, and obtain cool happiness, similarly, from this Bodhisattva lineage also arise thick branches and leaves of the lands and perfections, therefore it can be seen that sentient beings obtain great and dense happiness, and it is seen that unbearable dense suffering is pacified, therefore it is like a good root. For example, a tree with good roots has abundant fruits, which can fulfill the benefit of sentient beings, similarly, from this Bodhi seed also arise fruits that benefit oneself and bring happiness, and benefit others and bring happiness, therefore it is like a good root. Therefore, if the root of the tree is good, the trunk and so on will not fall, therefore the good root is one's own benefit. The branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits are vast and dense, and can benefit others, therefore it is for the benefit of others. Similarly, in the Bodhi seed also grows the extremely vast Bodhi tree of qualities, this is for self-benefit. Aiming at denseness that brings happiness and pacifies suffering is for the benefit of others. Regarding the fruits that benefit oneself and others, etc., because the root of the Bodhi tree is the Bodhi seed, therefore from the Bodhi seed arise fruits that benefit oneself and others, therefore it is the Bodhi
