The view of its meaning is called discrimination. Regarding the statement "examining letters in two ways," there are two ways to examine letters: examining them as meaningful and examining them as meaningless. Regarding the statement "many letters are meaningful, and one letter is meaningless," many letters, such as "all conditioned things are impermanent," should be examined as meaningful. How are they meaningful? Because they show the meaning of impermanence, etc. Single letters such as A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) and Ka (藏文,梵文天城体:क,梵文罗马拟音:ka,汉语字面意思:嘎) should be examined as meaningless, because they do not show any meaning of a single letter. Regarding the statement "how does the grasping mind follow and examine?" what is the grasping mind like? The wisdom of a Bodhisattva, with which the mind follows and examines, in the context of the Sutra sections, grasps the characteristics of the words that appear from each word. How does it grasp the characteristics? Determining that "the words of this Sutra are only this, not others," is called the grasping mind. Regarding the statement "grasping the characteristics of discrimination," again, in the context of the discriminating mind, when discriminating meanings, four types have been explained, such as discriminating numbers, etc., and two types have been explained for discriminating letters. Grasping their characteristics, how does it grasp? Determining that "these are just like this, not others," is called the grasping mind. Regarding the statement "how does the collecting mind collect the discriminated meaning into the root mind and enter into the mode of collecting?" what is the collecting mind like? The wisdom of a Bodhisattva, with which, when previously discriminating the Dharma meanings, the four types of discrimination, such as counting and measuring, and the two types of discrimination of letters, meaningful and meaningless, all enter into the mode of collecting. How does it enter? No matter how many of the twelve divisions of the Sutras are explained, they are all completely contained within the Sutra, thus collecting them into the root mind, or all the many words and letters that appear from within this Sutra, if summarized, only show this much. This mind of collecting is called the collecting mind. The hoping mind is...
