That all is not born from the beginning and become pure, but originally exists, only freed from sudden defilements, and merely manifests the purity that was there before. This is its meaning. Among them, there is only the matter of removing defilements, just as what makes the mind pure. Like water, which is pure by nature, it is only a matter of removing sudden defilements. If it is free from sudden defilements, it becomes pure. Similarly, here too, it is pure by nature, and only becomes pure later when it is free from sudden defilements. This is its meaning. The mind is considered to be pure by nature, and is always disturbed by sudden faults. It means that this mind is considered to be pure by nature, possessing the characteristic of luminosity, and is considered to be as pure as crystal. If so, the mind is pure by nature, then why is the purity of nature not visible or seen? For example, crystal is pure by nature, but if it is covered by a lump of clay, the purity of its nature is not visible; water is clear by nature, but if it is stirred up by dirt, the clarity of its nature is not visible. So, the mind is pure by nature, what does this mind refer to? Therefore, it is said, other than the nature of the mind, it is not said to be the mind that is pure by nature. It means that the nature of the mind, the non-dual perfected nature, that is said to be pure by nature, but other than the perfected nature, the dependent mind is not said to be the pure mind. Why? Because the dependent mind is contaminated, always disturbed by desire and faith, etc., arising and ceasing together in every moment, and remaining in a state of defilement, so it cannot be said to be the mind that is luminous by nature, while the perfected nature

Homage! Regarding what is called "Object of Dharma," if speaking from the ultimate truth, saying that all these phenomena that appear temporarily, such as illusions and dreams, are real, is also a cause for fear. Why? Because, if dreams and so on were also real, one would think that the things in dreams could also perform actions. The meaning of "like an illusion" is that even if it doesn't exist, if one understands that the object of focus is like an illusion, then one will be freed from fear. The meaning of "like the sky" is that although it is naturally pure, it can purify sudden stains. If one understands it to be like the sky, then one will be freed from fear. Similarly, the meaning of "like the high and low of a drawing" is that even if it doesn't exist, the object of focus is like the high and low of a drawing. The meaning of "like muddy water" is that although it is naturally pure, it can purify sudden stains, just as water is naturally clear but is also temporarily stained. The meaning of "just as water is naturally clear but is muddied by sudden turbidity" is, for example, water is not by nature turbid, but is by nature clear and bright. However, it is stirred up by sudden frogs, tadpoles, etc., and becomes turbid. Similarly, the mind is not by nature characterized by impurity, but is of a pure nature, but it is stained by sudden afflictions and so on. Therefore, here one should understand that the Thusness of the mind is the mind. The statement that "the mind is naturally pure" also refers to the nature of the mind, which is the fully accomplished nature of the Thusness of the mind that should not be done to all minds, and is called the naturally pure mind. Therefore, one should understand that the sound of mind refers to the Thusness of the mind. The meaning of "there are four verses on the arising of faults from desire" is that when a Bodhisattva benefits sentient beings, actions done with hatred become faults and downfalls, but actions done with desire do not become faults and downfalls. To show this, the verses are composed.
