Wisdom, in its three aspects, will increase. Because these three increase, whatever one thinks and prays for in this life will be accomplished accordingly. Therefore, the accomplishment of these things is also due to the cause of accumulating merit in previous lives. Fourth, this shows that accumulating merit is the cause of five factors, meaning: This fourth verse shows that accumulating merit in previous lives will become the cause of obtaining five dharmas in this life. The five dharmas are: joy, obtaining leisure, being free from illness, samadhi, and wisdom. Because of the cause of virtue, one will be very happy with the corresponding places and locations, meaning: Because of the cause of accumulating merit in previous lives, one will be very happy to live in the corresponding places and locations as mentioned above in this life. Being very happy to live in the corresponding places is also due to the cause of accumulating merit in previous lives. Because of the cause of leisure, one will obtain reliance on noble beings, meaning: Because of accumulating merit in previous lives, one will avoid being born in remote areas and the eight unfavorable conditions such as becoming deaf and mute in this life, thus generating leisure. When leisure is obtained, one will obtain reliance on noble beings. Thus, obtaining reliance on noble beings is also due to the cause of accumulating merit in previous lives. Because of the cause of being free from illness, samadhi, and wisdom, I will accomplish true aspirations, meaning: Because of the cause of accumulating merit in the past, one will have fewer illnesses in this life, and samadhi and wisdom will increase. Because these three increase, the true aspirations of the Bodhisattva will be accomplished as desired. Thus, the ability to accomplish aspirations is also due to the cause of accumulating merit in previous lives. The three verses on how afflictions themselves arise from afflictions mean: Relying on afflictions such as desire themselves, there is no other way to be liberated from afflictions such as desire, which is shown by three verses. Apart from the Dharmadhatu, because of what.

In the phrase "There is no Dharma," the Hundred Thousand Prajñāpāramitā states, "I do not say that there is anything other than desire producing desire." What is the meaning of this statement? The method to be liberated from all afflictions such as desire is the Dharmadhātu. Within the Dharmadhātu, there is no Dharma that is not pervaded or included in the Dharmadhātu, because not even a particle exists. It means that all Dharmas are pervaded by the Dharmadhātu. Therefore, in the phrase "The Buddhas contemplate the arising of desire, etc.," since the Dharmadhātu pervades all Dharmas, desire, etc., are also pervaded by the Dharmadhātu. Desire also contains the Dharmadhātu. Thus, if one properly contemplates the Dharmadhātu present in desire, its nature being unborn and unceasing, one will be liberated from desire, etc. Therefore, considering this, it is said, "I do not say that there is anything other than desire producing desire." What is meant by "spoken by the Blessed One" refers to the Hundred Thousand Prajñāpāramitā, etc. In the phrase "I do not say that there is anything other than desire producing desire," desire itself can liberate from desire, and I do not say that there is another separate method to be liberated from desire other than desire itself. Similarly, for ignorance, etc., just as with desire, ignorance, etc., also produce ignorance through ignorance, and I do not say that there is anything other. Understand it as it was said for desire. What is meant by "those who are transformed by contemplating that" refers to what was said in this way. What is the intention behind saying it in this way? Because there is no Dharma other than the Dharmadhātu, because there is no Dharma apart from Dharmatā. When the Blessed One said, "Desire arises," in reality, it was said with the Dharmadhātu in mind. Why? Thus, apart from the nature of emptiness of the Dharmadhātu, the unborn and unceasing nature, there is no Dharma that is not pervaded by it. Why?

In short, from the Dharmadhatu, afflictions such as desire, which are called "dharmas," are not separate. For example, desire itself is pervaded by the Dharmadhatu and has the nature of the Dharmadhatu. Therefore, the nature of desire and other dharmas is called the name of desire. That is, because desire also has the Dharmadhatu, the Dharmadhatu that has desire is given the name of desire. The saying, "That which arises is desire, etc.," means that if one meditates on the Dharmadhatu that exists in desire and other things as the unborn and unarisen nature of dharma, then it will arise from desire and other things. Therefore, the Buddha taught, "I do not say that desire produces desire is something else." Furthermore, the Hundred Thousand Prajnaparamita Sutra says that ignorance and enlightenment are one, that which is ignorance is enlightenment, and that which is enlightenment is ignorance, and that these two are inseparable and indivisible. To explain what intention the Buddha had in saying this, the sutra says, "Apart from the Dharmadhatu, there is no dharma." etc. That is, no matter what ignorance, afflictions, etc., there is no dharma that is not pervaded by the emptiness of the Dharmadhatu, not even a particle. Therefore, the sutra says, "From the explanation of afflictions, the wise should understand." That is, because the Dharmadhatu pervades everything, the act of saying "desire produces desire" when explaining afflictions earlier is like explaining that desire and the Dharmadhatu are one. The wise, that is, the Blessed One, said that ignorance and enlightenment are one. Enlightenment is the nature of the Dharmadhatu, and ignorance is also pervaded by the Dharmadhatu. The nature of the Dharmadhatu of enlightenment and the Dharmadhatu that acts on ignorance are the same in nature. Based on this intention, the Buddha taught that ignorance and enlightenment are one, and that is the intention. The saying, "The teaching of afflictions is that itself," means that just as it was said earlier that "desire produces desire," explaining that the nature of desire and the Dharmadhatu are one, so it is here as well, ignorance...
