Because I am not overwhelmed and do not feel bored, I am called "unyielding." The so-called "disciplining for the sake of counteracting attachment and so on" is because the Buddha's teachings can counteract attachment and can counteract all afflictions such as hatred. Therefore, it is called "disciplining" for the sake of disciplining afflictions. The so-called "not harsh because of establishing precepts as a means of happiness" refers to the precepts established by non-Buddhists, such as being surrounded by five fires, plucking hair, jumping from cliffs, rolling in ashes, etc., which are harmful in this life and the next. Because they uphold such precepts, they are harsh. The discipline established by the Tathagata allows the consumption of food that is neither cold nor hungry and the wearing of clothes in this life, and it is also easy to understand the meaning in the next life, so it is called "not harsh." Alternatively, when initially upholding the precepts with words, the Buddha said, "Monks, this is beneficial and happy for you," so it is not harsh. The so-called "not violent because it shows the means of arising correctly even from transgression" does not mean that there is no way to enter other paths and arise after transgression. Even if the precepts are transgressed and the precepts are weakened, there are various paths such as confession, vowing not to commit them again, and rejoicing in merit, which can be entered and show the means of arising from the three realms, so it is called "not violent." The so-called "extremely disciplined for the sake of teaching the three vehicles" means that the Hearer Vehicle is taught to those who are disciplined by the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Buddha Vehicle is taught to those who are disciplined by the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and the Great Vehicle is taught to those who are disciplined by the Great Vehicle, so it is called "extremely disciplined." The so-called "pleasant to the ear for the sake of counteracting distraction" means that the Tathagata's teachings are very gentle and pleasant to the ear, so listeners will not be distracted and will listen attentively, so it is called "pleasant to the ear." The so-called "making the body and mind calm for the sake of generating samadhi" means that hearing the Tathagata's teachings will generate calmness of mind. From the calmness of mind, the samadhi of the aspect of stillness will arise.

If samadhi arises, it causes happiness to arise in the body. Therefore, it is called making the body tranquil. Because it causes the joy of vipassanā to arise, it is called making the mind joyful. The text says that because the scripture is proficient in the nature of wisdom, the self and common characteristics of all dharmas, free from the darkness of ignorance, it causes the joy of vipassanā to arise. Therefore, it is called making the mind joyful. In order to cut off doubt, it is called making the mind joyful. The text says that as many thorns of doubt pierce, there is that much unhappiness, and the words of the Tathagata can remove the thorns of doubt, so it is called making the heart joyful. In order to abandon wrong views, it is called generating joy and happiness. The text says that there are two kinds of wrong views: ignorance and wrong knowledge. Among them, ignorance means not understanding the self and common characteristics of all dharmas at all. Abandoning ignorance about them and establishing them in right knowledge, it is called generating joy. Wrong knowledge means knowing that there is self, permanence, happiness, etc. Abandoning their wrong knowledge and establishing them in right knowledge, it is called generating happiness. In order to practice without regret, it is called no regret. The text says that after hearing the teachings of the Tathagata, practicing through hearing and thinking, etc., one will eventually obtain the fruit and personally realize it, so there will be no displeasure and regret of "my hearing the teachings was in vain", so it is called no regret. Because it is the place of perfect hearing wisdom, it is called complete understanding. The text says that hearing and hearing the words of the Tathagata will generate the perfection of hearing wisdom, because it is the cause and place of generating the perfection of hearing wisdom, so it is called complete understanding. Because it is the place of perfect thinking wisdom, it is called distinguishing understanding. The text says that how to think about the Dharma heard through the way of wisdom will generate the perfection of thinking wisdom, because it is the cause and place of generating the perfection of thinking wisdom, so it is called distinguishing
