English

It is called having power. Because of abandonment, it is like the sound of an elephant. The elephant here does not refer to the elephant in the human realm, but to the heavenly elephant, such as Airavata. The sound of an elephant is not buzzing or noisy, so it is abandoned. Similarly, the voice of the Tathagata is also called abandoned because it is free from buzzing and noise. Because of its depth, it is like the sound of a cloud. The cloud here refers to thunder. For example, even if the sound of thunder is heard from nearby, it will not be heard as particularly strong, and even if it is heard from afar, it will not be heard as particularly small. Whether near or far, it is heard evenly, because of its depth. Similarly, the voice of the Tathagata is the same for everyone, near or far, without being strong or weak, so it is called like the sound of a cloud. Because of its pleasantness, it is like the voice of the Dragon King. For example, in the realm of the dragons, the Dragon King speaks pleasantly and with dignified words, and all the dragons are willing to listen. Similarly, the teachings of the Tathagata are also pleasant and dignified, and all the gods and asuras listen to the teachings, so it is called like the voice of the Dragon King. Because of its melodiousness, it is like the voice of a Kinnara. For example, among the voices of all beings, there is none more excellent than the voice of a Kinnara, which is both melodious and gentle. Similarly, the voice of the Tathagata is also melodious and gentle, so it is called like the voice of a Kinnara. Because of its clarity and continuity, it is like the sound of a Kalavinka. For example, the sound of a Kalavinka is clear, it travels from one place to another, and it is not interrupted. For example, when branches are blown by the wind, the sound does not stop, and it moves from one place to another. Similarly, when the Tathagata teaches the Dharma, the continuity of the voice is not interrupted, and the melodious sound is also different from the previous one, and other melodious sounds continue to appear, so it is called like the sound of a Kalavinka. Some scriptures say that it is clear and intermittent, which means that, for example, when the Kalavinka bird makes a sound, the sound enters the minds of beings, and then the continuity of the sound is interrupted. Even if the continuity of the sound is interrupted, because the sound is melodious, the desire to hear it still arises.
