Having heard the excellent twelve branches of the scriptures, because of hearing much, one will clearly explain. For those who have heard much, it is impossible to explain erroneously or unclearly. Secondly, because of great wisdom, doubt is abandoned, in order to cut off the doubts of others. Secondly, it makes one's own wisdom sharp. Making one's own wisdom sharp, one becomes wise and has no doubt about the self and general characteristics of all dharmas, and can also cut off the doubts of others. Because sharp wisdom does not give rise to doubt in oneself and can also dispel the doubts of others. Thirdly, it is pleasing because one does not do what should not be done. Thirdly, it is doing the work of an excellent person. Doing the work of an excellent person, one abides in true qualities, and because the discipline is not broken, one can explain and instruct others in all that one has heard, and one can listen, and because the words are upright, it is called pleasing. Fourthly, it shows the two suchness, the nature of affliction and the nature of purification, for the two truths are two truths. Fourthly, it shows affliction and purification. Showing affliction and purification shows the two suchness, the suchness of the nature of affliction and the suchness of the nature of purification. Among them, the conventional truth is the suchness of the nature of affliction. The ultimate truth is the suchness of the nature of purification. Also, from the four truths, the two truths of suffering and origin are called the suchness of the nature of affliction. The two truths of cessation and path are called the suchness of the nature of purification. The above-mentioned perfect verses are shown by two verses, as it is said, the perfect verses are shown by one verse has been said. Now, to explain the second of the perfect verses, therefore: The supreme guide of the Bodhisattva is, Gentle, free from greed, not weary, Clear, diverse, able to distinguish.

It is unadulterated and all-pervading. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the speech of the Bodhisattvas is endowed with nine qualities, therefore it is a perfect speech. What are the nine qualities? Gentleness, freedom from arrogance, untiring, clarity, variety, reason, comprehensibility, unadulteratedness, all-pervasiveness, and even if refuted by others, not uttering harsh words, hence it is called gentleness. When teaching the Dharma or striving for the meaning of the Dharma, even if others say harsh and unpleasant words such as "wrong, confused, or inappropriate," one does not respond with harsh or rude words, hence it is called gentleness. When accomplishment and power arise, one does not dwell on arrogance, hence it is called freedom from arrogance. When one comprehends difficult Dharma meanings and shows and establishes how one has comprehended them to others, even if one's own side is established, the Bodhisattva does not think, "I have accomplished difficult meanings to comprehend," and does not become arrogant in mind, and does not become conceited. When one teaches profound Dharma to others and others become happy and praise, "You are wise, you speak very clearly and well," one does not become conceited and arrogant, hence it is called freedom from arrogance. Because there is no weariness, it is untiring. Weariness is discouragement and despair, and when teaching the Dharma, the body is sick and uncomfortable. When the Bodhisattva teaches the Dharma, such things do not exist, hence it is called untiring. Because the teacher shows everything without concealment, it is called clarity. Some teach, some do not teach, some teach only half and do not finish, and some only teach the words and not the meaning, this is called the teacher concealing. The Bodhisattva teaches all the Dharma, and not only teaches the words but also the meaning, so the teacher shows without concealment, hence it is called clarity. Because there is no repetition, it is called variety. When teaching the Dharma, one does not repeat the words that have already passed, and when one begins to show some Dharma to others, after saying one word, if others do not understand the meaning of the Dharma with that word, then
