It is not the cause of universal conceptualization, but the idea that there is a name and the idea that there is meaning are the characteristics of complete conceptualization, which is its meaning. Understanding names and meanings as they are, means that names and meanings are as they are, which shows the meaning of names and meanings as they are. Thinking that things are as they are named, and thinking that names are as things are, is called understanding things as they are. The appearance of things and names is the appearance of names and meanings as they are, for example, thinking that names exist as things like vases exist, and thinking that things exist as names exist, is called the appearance of names and meanings as they are. The characteristic of complete conceptualization is to fully understand these, which is its meaning. In short, the Dharma of complete conceptualization is limited to this, or thinking that there is a name, the name is considered a thing, even if ordinary people conceptualize, it is only the conceptualization of two truths, and there is no other conceptualization besides that, therefore, names and meanings are called the characteristics of complete conceptualization, which is its meaning. In order to show the characteristics of the power of others, the verse says: Three kinds of three kinds of appearances are the characteristics of the grasped and the grasper, non-real complete conceptualization is the characteristic of the power of others. Appearing as three kinds, and again appearing as three kinds, is called three kinds of three kinds of appearances. Among them, appearing as three kinds refers to appearing as a place, appearing as a thing, and appearing as a body. Appearing as a place means that the Alaya Consciousness appears as a container, like the great earth. Appearing as a thing means that from form to Dharma, it appears as the six objects. Appearing as a body means that from the eye faculty to the mind faculty, it appears as the six faculties. Therefore, the Lankavatara Sutra also says: Body and enjoyment, like a place, I have said to be only mind. Again, appearing as three kinds refers to appearing as mind, appearing as attachment, and appearing as conceptualization. Among them, mind refers to the afflicted mind, which is the root of affliction and always

Those who possess it fixate on the ālaya as self. Grasping refers to the collection of the five consciousnesses, from eye consciousness to body consciousness, and is called grasping because each grasps and focuses on its respective object. Conceptualization refers to mind consciousness, because it can determine, "This is blue, not yellow." Among these, the appearance of place, meaning, and body is the characteristic of the object of grasping. Appearing as mind, grasping, and conceptualization is the characteristic of the grasper. Thus, the incorrect imputation of what is not truly the object of grasping and the grasper is the characteristic of other-dependence, along with the ālaya consciousness and its retinue. To show the characteristic of the perfectly established, it is stated, "Non-entity and entity exist," and so forth. The emptiness of the realm of phenomena, the characteristic of suchness, is called the perfectly established. Because there is no entity of the grasped and the grasper in the perfectly established, it is called non-entity. Because the emptiness that is free from the grasped and the grasper is not non-existent, it is called entity. Therefore, in the Discrimination of the Middle and Extremes, it is also said, "The two are not there, emptiness is there." It is stated, "The equality of entity and non-entity." In the entity of emptiness, the non-entity of the grasped and the grasper also exists there. In the non-entity of the grasped and the grasper, the entity of emptiness also exists there, so it is called the equality of entity and non-entity. In the Middle and Extremes, it is also said, "Emptiness is there, there also is it." In the chapter on entering the Buddha's means in this very Ornament of the Sūtras, it is also said, "Whatever is without the two, the grasped and the grasper, that itself is the supreme of existence, because it exists in the characteristic of the perfectly established." It is stated, "The unpacified and the pacified." Because emptiness is mixed with adventitious stains, it is unpacified. Because it is the nature of self-luminous and pure nature, it is pacified. It is stated, "Non-conceptual, perfectly established characteristic." Because the perfectly established is free from all the elaborations of the grasped and the grasper, it is not the object of thinkers, therefore it is called non-conceptual.
