Non-self and formations not associated with mind, and the unconditioned, these are the basis of the three natures. There are three kinds of natures: the completely imputed nature, the other-powered nature, and the thoroughly established nature. There are five kinds of natures: basis, establishment, appearance, mirror, and place. If these three are explained separately, they are limitless, but in brief, they can be summarized into three types. Among them, the signified and the nature are like objects to be known. The signifier is the wisdom to be known. Therefore, the following will also signify the signified and the nature, and because it makes them known, it is called the signifier. Why are the signified, nature, and signifier explained? These three are for the benefit of sentient beings, the conclusion spoken by the Buddha. To explain the signified, it is said, "The mind together with what is seen." etc. The word "mind" indicates consciousness and form. Why is that? This mind appears in two ways: appearing as the object to be grasped and appearing as the grasper. Among them, what appears like the five sense faculties and the five objects is what appears as the object to be grasped, which indicates form. What appears as the grasper is the six consciousnesses from eye consciousness to mind consciousness, which indicates mind. The word "seen" in "together with what is seen" refers to mental factors. Why are mental factors called "seen"? Because all mental factors have the nature of being clear and vivid, they are called "seen," which indicates mental phenomena. In "its place," "its place" indicates formations not associated with mind. Formations not associated with mind also arise from the state of mind, form, and mental factors, so it is called "its place." How is it? When form, mind, and mental factors gather and obscure, from the cessation of form of mind and mental factors arises the cessation attainment, and the arising of the five aggregates is called birth, and the transformation of the form aggregate into characteristics such as white hair is called aging, thus

In the realm of the three realms, it is only posited that there are no formations that are not associated with consciousness. The so-called "unchanging" refers to the unconditioned space, the cessation of separate analysis, the cessation of non-separate analysis, and Suchness. If asked, why is it said that the unconditioned is unchanging? Because from the perspective of this consciousness, the unconditioned such as space appears. The unconditioned such as space that appears in the mind does not change in the nature of arising and ceasing, so it is said that the unconditioned is unchanging. In short, this is the object to be explained. The detailed distinctions are immeasurable. The so-called "detailed distinctions are immeasurable" means that, in short, form, mind, mental factors, formations that are not associated with mind, and the five unconditioned are the objects to be explained. If the nature of each of these five is separated, it is immeasurable, so it is said to be immeasurable. These five are the place and basis of the three natures, so they are called the objects to be explained. In order to show the nature, it is said, "the mark of the consciousness of the meaning as it is said," and so on. Among them, there are three kinds of nature: the nature of complete imputation, the nature of dependence, and the nature of perfect accomplishment. The nature of complete imputation also has three kinds. Saying "This is a vase and this is cloth" is speech. Vase and cloth are the meaning. The consciousness as it is is a mental factor, that is, the distinction of thinking "This is a vase, not cloth," and "This is blue, not yellow." The objects of the consciousness of the mark are vases, cloths, yellow, blue, etc., that is, the objects on which consciousness depends. In fact, those who are proficient in terminology will distinguish "This is a vase, this is cloth" for cloth and vases, etc. The objects of this distinction, vases and cloths, etc., are called the nature of complete imputation. This is one kind of nature of complete imputation. The so-called "its habit" means that for the mark of the consciousness of the meaning as it is said, one will distinguish "That is..." Its habit is imbued on the Alaya consciousness, and one day it will become the cause of producing the consciousness of the meaning as it is said, so the habit is also called the nature of complete imputation. This is the
