There are two aspects of the characteristic of indication. From that, the appearance of meaning is the characteristic of pervasive imputation. It is called: From habit, even for children who are not skilled in terminology, just as saying that something with a slender neck and a round belly is called a vase, without understanding the meaning of what is said, it also appears like a vase from the mind. However, one does not know if it is the vase itself, but if one sees a vase, one will think, "What is this?" Even if such a thought arises, it is still the characteristic of pervasive imputation. This is the third aspect of the characteristic of pervasive imputation. The meaning of that verse is summarized as follows: Whatever is pervasively imputed, and the cause from which it is pervasively imputed, both are shown to be the characteristic of pervasive imputation. What is pervasive imputation? It is the thought of those who are skilled in terminology that this is a vase, and the thought of those who are not skilled in terminology when they see a vase, thinking, "What is this?" From what cause is it pervasively imputed? It is pervasively imputed from the habit of that. It is called "the sign of the understanding of the meaning of what is said," etc. Saying is referring to a vase and cloth. The understanding of the meaning of what is said is knowing and recognizing that the meaning of the name "vase" is a round belly and a slender neck, that is, knowing that the name and meaning are related. The sign of that is understanding, and the object of that is a vase and cloth, etc. This is one aspect of the characteristic of pervasive imputation. It is called "the habit of that saying." The seed of saying is accumulated in the alaya consciousness, and that is also the cause of discrimination at some time, so it is called pervasive imputation. This is the second aspect of the characteristic of pervasive imputation. It is called "from that habit, whatever meaning." From the habit of saying accumulated in the alaya consciousness, the appearance of things like vases and cloths to those who are not skilled in terminology is also called pervasive imputation. This is the meaning of that. From "whoever is not skilled in terminology," etc., the sound of a vase refers to something with a round belly. Children who do not know the relationship between the name and meaning of a vase are called those who are not skilled in terminology. It is called "even without the understanding of the meaning of what is said, it will appear." For those who are not skilled in terminology, when they see a vase, they will think that this is the vase itself, and not something else.

Even without uttering a word, when seeing a vase, thinking "What is this?", this thought is also the nature of the completely imputed. Among them, regarding the statement "The perception of the meaning of how to speak arises from the mind", it explains the meaning of "the perception of the meaning of speaking as it is", that is, after things like vases and cloths that are said to be vases and cloths appear, thinking "This is a vase, not a cloth", this is a dharma arising from the mind. Such thinking is a dharma arising from the mind, called the perception of the meaning of speaking as it is. Regarding the statement "What is its object, that is its characteristic", it means that the objects of these dharmas arising from the mind are vases, cloths, yellow, blue, etc., which are called its characteristics. Therefore, regarding the statement "From the cause - habitual tendencies, whatever is completely discriminated, both of those are considered to be the nature of the completely imputed", it means that the cause - habitual tendencies are also called the completely imputed, because it is the cause of the appearance of the completely imputed dharma. Whether those who are proficient in terminology name it "vase", or those who are not proficient in terminology see a vase and think "What is this?", this is also the completely imputed, because there is thought that clings to the grasper and the grasped. Therefore, both the cause - habitual tendencies and the completely discriminated are called the completely imputed. Furthermore, it also shows other categories of the completely imputed, that is, it says "Like the name, so are the meanings", etc. It means that just as the names of vases and cloths are spoken, thinking that the meanings of vases and cloths also exist in the same way, this is the nature of the completely imputed. Regarding the statement "Like the meaning, the name is very apparent", it means that just as the meanings of vases and cloths are established, thinking that the names of vases and cloths also exist, this is "Like the meaning, the name is very apparent", and this is also the nature of the completely imputed. Regarding the statement "The cause of unreal thought is the nature of the completely imputed", it means that when thinking that meaning exists from the perspective of name, name is the cause of unreal completely imputed. When thinking that name exists from the perspective of meaning, meaning is also real.
