Like hearing with the ears, although not all the dharmas spoken by the Tathagata exist as they are, they become objects of the ears and can be heard with the ears, so they are like echoes in a valley. The dharmas that abide in samadhi are like the reflection of the moon in water. Why is that? Just as the reflection of the moon appears in water and containers, single-pointed samadhi is like water and containers. From that, all birthplaces and the birthplaces of overcoming appear, like the moon in water. Consciously grasping existence is like an emanation. Why is that? For example, an emanation does not generate attachment and hatred from one place to another. Similarly, a Bodhisattva, for the sake of sentient beings, takes and grasps from one life to another, but does not generate attachment and hatred, so it is like an emanation. In the verse called "Seeking the Knowable," there are two aspects of the knowable: worldly dharmas and transcendental dharmas. To examine which dharmas are worldly dharmas and which dharmas are transcendental dharmas, two verses are used to explain this, and that is its meaning. In the term "unreal imagination," unreal pervasive imagination refers to those discriminations that do not accord with the attainment of the realm of reality and non-conceptual wisdom, that is, the pervasive imagination of the grasped and the grasper of sentient beings from the desire realm to the peak of existence, which is called unreal pervasive imagination. In the term "neither unreal nor not unreal," neither unreal nor not unreal discrimination refers to the discrimination from the time of hearing the holy Dharma and thinking, etc., in the state of ordinary beings, up to the supreme worldly Dharma of the stage of application. Because there is discrimination of the grasped and the grasper at that time, it is called unreal. Because it accords with the realization of the realm of reality and transcendental wisdom, and exists like their cause, it is called neither unreal nor not unreal. In the term "non-conceptual," non-conceptual is the suchness of the realm of reality, and the transcendental wisdom.

It is called non-conceptual wisdom. Why? Because these two do not have concepts such as the object of grasping and the grasper, so it is called non-conceptual. 'Neither conceptual nor non-conceptual' refers to the pure worldly wisdom obtained after non-conceptualization. Because that wisdom does not have concepts like the object of grasping and the grasper, it is called non-conceptual. Why? Because non-conceptual wisdom realizes the Dharmadhatu, and pure worldly wisdom takes non-conceptual wisdom as its object, so there is no distinction between the grasper and the object of grasping. 'Also not non-conceptual' refers to the self-characteristics and general characteristics of all dharmas, because there is a concept of all dharmas as being like illusions and mirages. 'It should be said that everything should be known', which means that all four of these are objects to be known, because what is to be known is only this, and there is nothing more. It should also be known that it is not real. 'There are two verses for searching for all defilements and purifications', which means that the three, afflictions, karma and life, are all defilements. How does it become all defilements? Examining what is the nature of all defilements is called searching for all defilements. The noble path and Nirvana are purification. How to examine what the nature of purification is, is called completely searching for purification. In order to search for these two, it is shown in two verses, that is the meaning. 'From one's own realm, two appear', which means that realm, seed and cause have the same meaning. Alaya consciousness, together with the habits of the object of grasping and the grasper, is called one's own realm. From the habits of the grasper and the object of grasping, it appears as the object of grasping, and also appears as the grasper, so it appears as two. 'Ignorance and afflictions enter simultaneously', which means that not only does it appear as the object of grasping and the grasper, but also when it appears as the object of grasping and the grasper, ignorance and afflictions arise and appear simultaneously, that is the meaning. The meaning of 'enter' is that from such an appearance, one is born into samsara, that is the meaning of the word.
