Regarding actions, a collection of many names is called a word, such as "all conditioned phenomena are impermanent." Or, how many words appear in this sutra, or what is the meaning of this word, this is called "object of focus." The so-called "focus on letters" means focusing on A (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: a, literal Chinese meaning: A) and Ka (Tibetan: ཀ, Sanskrit Devanagari: क, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: ka, literal Chinese meaning: Ka), etc., which is called "focus on letters." The so-called "focus on the selflessness of the individual" means that it is limited to the five aggregates, and among the five aggregates, there is no self or sentient being conceived by non-Buddhists. Focusing on this is called "focus on the selflessness of the individual." The so-called "focus on the selflessness of phenomena" means that all imputed phenomena, such as the aggregates, are like forms in a dream, without inherent existence. Focusing on this is called "focus on the selflessness of phenomena." The so-called "focus on form phenomena" means focusing on one's own, others', or both bodies, observing their impurity, etc., which is called "focus on form phenomena." The so-called "focus on formless phenomena" means focusing on all feelings as suffering, focusing on the mind as impermanent, and focusing on phenomena as selfless, which is called "focus on formless phenomena." The certainty of thorough knowledge is that if one knows in five ways, it is called the meaning of "mindfulness of the certainty of thorough knowledge." Among them, the so-called "the object of thorough knowledge is suffering," the so-called "object of thorough knowledge" refers to the object to be known. That is, the five aggregates of clinging are included in the truth of suffering. The so-called "the meaning of thorough knowledge is that they are impermanent, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness," the so-called how to thoroughly know the five aggregates refers to "meaning," which is to be understood in four ways, such as impermanence. Among them, because it disintegrates in every moment, it is impermanent. Because it possesses three kinds of suffering, it is suffering. Because there is no self conceived by non-Buddhists in the aggregates, and there is no permanence, it is emptiness. Because the aggregates themselves do not have the nature of a permanent self conceived by non-Buddhists, it is selflessness. The so-called "thorough knowledge is the path" refers to the aggregates of clinging.
