It is called "two," meaning that those dharmas are merely of the nature of arising and ceasing, and apart from that, there is no self or inner agent person. The term "inner" refers to the aggregates of form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Alternatively, what is apprehended, from the eye sense base to the mind sense base, is called apprehension. The term "outer" refers to the six objects from the form sense base to the dharma sense base, which are apprehended, and are called outer. Although the focus on dharma is shown first, because there are many explanations of attaining the focus on dharma, it is later explained in detail with the second and third verses. However, the explanation of attaining the inner focus and the outer focus, and through them, attaining the focus on the suchness of all inner and outer phenomena, is less. Therefore, the attainment of their focus should be explained first. Therefore, it is said, "both," etc., the suchness of both inner and outer is divided into two, and is called "both." When the outer suchness manifests, it is called attaining the outer focus; when the inner suchness manifests, it is called attaining the inner focus. By what cause does the suchness of inner and outer manifest? Therefore, it is said, "By two meanings, both are attained." By two meanings, the focus on the suchness of both inner and outer can be attained, that is, by seeing that the meaning of what is taken and the meaning of what takes are not different entities, and by seeing that the meaning of what takes and the meaning of what is taken are not different entities. Among them, if one sees that what takes, that is, the mind, and what is taken, that is, external phenomena, do not exist independently, but are only mind, and thereby abandons the distraction towards what is taken, it is called attaining the outer focus, which occurs at the time of patience. If one sees that what is taken, that is, the external object, and what takes, that is, the inner mind, are not different entities, and thereby understands that just as the external object does not exist, the inner mind also does not exist, and thereby abandons the distraction towards what takes, it is called attaining the inner focus, which occurs at the peak of worldly dharma. How then can one attain the suchness of both inner and outer? Therefore, it says, both

What is non-objectification? It is said that, having realized that all the realms of inner phenomena are the nature of going, then the appearing object of grasping is also non-objectification, and the grasper is also non-objectification. If one abides in non-dual wisdom, then finding the object of suchness of all inner and outer phenomena is called finding the object. This is at the time of the first ground. In the times of heat and peak, the suchness of inner and outer phenomena has not become manifest, so it is not said to be finding the object. Body and so on are inner and outer, it is said that the body, that is, the five aggregates, are called inner, and the six objects, such as form, are called outer. The suchness of those two is those two, it is said that the suchness of the two inner and outer is called the two, that is, the suchness of the outer and the suchness of the inner. If it is said that that emptiness is of one taste, then why is it established as two types? The answer is: Although suchness is not divided into two, since the inner and outer phenomena and the phenomena-possessors are different, the nature of phenomena is also established as two types, like the sky of a pot and the sky of a house, and so on. From the meaning of the object of grasping to seeing the meaning of the grasper as non-different, it is said that consciousness itself appears as two, but the grasper is not only in the external object of grasping, like the inner sense bases such as the eye, it does not exist in a separate place as if established by a child. If one sees that the mind also does not exist like an object, then it is called finding the inner object, this is at the time of the supreme mundane dharma. From the mundane meaning, seeing the meaning of the object of grasping as non-different, it is said that the nature of mind merely appears as the meaning of form and so on, but if one sees that there is no other meaning apart from mind, then it is called finding the outer object, this is at the time of forbearance. Having shown finding the object of suchness of all inner and outer and inner and outer phenomena, now it is shown how one can find the object in the Dharma, therefore it is said: Finding the object in the Dharma is through the three wisdoms of hearing and so on, it is said and so on, Dharma is the twelve divisions of scripture and so on. Finding the object in those Dharmas.
