As residing in freedom. Thus it is said, it should be added to other beings. For example, a king, with a great accumulation of merit and wisdom, rules his subjects under his authority and command, and uses wealth as he pleases. Similarly, Bodhisattvas who act for the benefit of others, because they possess wisdom and compassion, have power over the two dharmas, that is, they have power over samsara and nirvana. Among them, by possessing wisdom, they have power over samsara. How do they have power? Because by possessing wisdom, although they abide in samsara, they are not stained by the afflictions of samsara. By possessing compassion, they have power over nirvana. How do they have power? Because by possessing compassion, they do not abide solely in nirvana, but enter samsara for the benefit of sentient beings. Therefore, their mind is like the mind of a king. Thus, it has been shown that the aspiration of the Mahayana is superior to the aspiration of the world and beyond the world. Now, in order to show that it is reasonable to establish the aspiration of the Mahayana with three verses, it is said: Always know the difference between many aspirations. The meaning of 'always' is that at all times, the aspiration is superior. Many aspirations are: One should know that the aspirations of sentient beings in the desire realm, as well as the aspirations of sentient beings in the form and formless realms, and the aspirations of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are all superior. Having known the supreme and excellent way of the Mahayana in this way, rely on it and always seek it in this way. Thus it is said. As mentioned above, knowing that aspiring to the Dharma of the Mahayana is the most excellent of aspirations and is a reasonable aspiration, the Bodhisattvas who rely on the Dharma of the Mahayana also seek and accomplish aspiring to the Dharma of the Mahayana at all times. Aspiring to the Dharma of the Mahayana is superior to the aspirations of the world and beyond the world, therefore it is called supreme and excellent. Because it can generate the means for the benefit of oneself and others, it is called reasonable. In that meaning it is said: The greedy one is like a dog. In that it is said: The one who benefits others is like a king.

The above refers to showing the meaning of the king entering the state. Regarding the phrase "accomplished by others," starting from "like a dog" up to "other beings showing the benefit of others," it is to explain in detail with the latter content and show the meaning of what was said before. Regarding the phrase "also correctly enter the Mahayana," starting from "constant devotion" up to "constantly seek that," it refers to showing the meaning of entering the Mahayana devotion. Refuting discouragement towards devotion. The meaning of the title "verses" is: Some people think that unsurpassed Bodhi can be attained by gods and saints, but humans cannot attain it, and thus become discouraged; and some people think that even if humans can attain it, it will take countless three great asamkhyeya kalpas to attain, which is difficult to practice, and thus become discouraged; and some people think that even if they practice for a long time, only a few can attain it, not everyone can attain it, and thus become discouraged. In order to show that one should not be discouraged with three reasons, verses are written. In order to show the first reason, it is said "from becoming human," meaning that unsurpassed Bodhi can only be attained from becoming human, not from places like gods, therefore one should not be discouraged. In order to show the second reason, it is said "Bodhi can be attained in every moment," meaning that Bodhi does not need to be practiced for a long time, it can be attained in the moment of the ten directions of the world, therefore one should not be discouraged. In order to show the third reason, it is said "immeasurable beings," meaning that it is not that some beings can attain it and some beings cannot, but immeasurable, countless, inconceivable beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges can attain Bodhi, therefore one should not be discouraged. Therefore, "one should not tolerate discouragement," meaning that because of these three reasons, if discouragement arises, one should not tolerate or endure it. Regarding devotion as the difference of merit, there are two verses, meaning that up to this point is the characteristic distinction of devotion.
