Rabjor, the Buddha does not exist. The Dharma does not exist. The Sangha does not exist. There is no birth. There is no arising. All is emptiness, etc. Hearing these names, words, and letters, one develops a mind of fear and aversion, as if holding poison. Then, when one relies on a virtuous friend, the virtuous friends will say, 'Hey, son of good family, the name, word, and letter 'does not exist' does not mean the literal meaning. 'Does not exist' means that the nature of the completely imputed, which is grasped and held by ordinary beings, does not exist, but it does not mean that the nature of the other-powered and thoroughly established does not exist.' If one understands such a meaning of the Great Vehicle, just as the tongue first tastes the flavor of medicine, when one sees the meaning, great joy will arise. For that Dharma, if one goes through the stages of listening, thinking, and meditating, etc., as if one is full, one can eliminate the obscurations of afflictions and the obscurations of knowledge in the mind. Therefore, this verse shows that it is the cause of eliminating obscurations. Like a king, it is difficult to please. This Dharma is vast, difficult, and profound. If one can please it, it will similarly bestow the wealth of supreme qualities. This is the second analogy. Just like those kings, it is difficult to please, delight, and satisfy. Even heroes must perform many fierce acts of bravery to satisfy them. Even wise people must perform great acts of wisdom to satisfy them. Even scholars must perform great acts of scholarship to satisfy them. Furthermore, saying 'good' is praise, and saying 'bad' is criticism. Kings are very difficult to please. If they are pleased by good praise, they will give abundant treasures, grains, livestock, and everything else one desires. As it is said in the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son: 'The noble Chaga said, kings are difficult to rely on, and only extreme suffering can please them. When they are pleased, they will bestow whatever things are desired at that time.' Like this, the Great Vehicle

This Mahayana Dharma is vast, difficult, and profound, making it hard to please. It is vast because it explains the earth and the perfections, and so on. It is called difficult and profound because it reveals emptiness and selflessness. The word "emptiness" is difficult because it has different meanings in different contexts, making it hard to understand. The meanings are also hard to realize, hence it is profound. It is hard to please because it is extremely difficult to directly realize this Dharma, hence it is hard to make it pleasing. How can it be directly realized? Just as it is said in the Sutra of the Noble Sagaramati, "Sagaramati, it is easy to say 'achieve Buddhahood,' but it is extremely difficult to accomplish the accumulation of merit." When one engages in armor-like diligence and application-like diligence, and directly realizes this Dharma and makes it pleasing, just like pleasing a king, at that time one will obtain the wealth of immeasurable qualities such as the manifestation of extraordinary virtues, strength, fearlessness, and so on. This shows that this Dharma is the cause of perfect prosperity. A priceless jewel, unrecognized, does not please. Likewise, the unwise do not delight in this Dharma; the opposite is true. This is the third example. Just as a perfect jewel, naturally radiant, with perfect shape and size, even if the entire Jambudvipa were given in exchange, it would not equal its value. This priceless jewel, if it falls into the hands of a carpenter or shepherd, who has never possessed a jewel before and does not know how to recognize it, they will not understand its preciousness, and therefore their minds will not be satisfied or joyful. But if that same jewel falls into the hands of someone who has previously owned jewels and knows how to recognize their qualities, great joy will arise, and it will also become the source of generating much wealth such as gold. Similarly, this Mahayana Dharma, with its perfect meaning and words, even if the scriptures or spoken words fall into the hands of someone who does not understand the meaning and words, it will not generate joy or satisfaction. On the contrary,
