Because it is the nature of peace, it is explained as calm abiding. Furthermore, in order to distinguish between abiding in and not abiding in the Dharma of calm abiding and insight, the question is asked: "Bhagavan, may we also say that one abides in the Dharma of calm abiding and insight?" Regarding the phrase "following the characteristics of the Dharma as it is grasped and contemplated in the Sutra Pitaka, etc.," the characteristics of the Dharma are words and letters, etc. The word "meaning" refers to the reason for the meaning. This indicates that following the characteristics of grasping and contemplating the Dharma in the Sutra Pitaka, etc., in terms of meaning, whether it is calm abiding or insight, that is abiding in the Dharma, because one believes in the Dharma and follows the meaning. Regarding "not relying on the Dharma that is grasped and contemplated," etc., it refers to not clinging to the Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka, etc. The word "others" refers to being caused by other conditions, not by the power of one's own conditions. Regarding the phrase "instruction and following," the language to be understood is instruction. So, is hearing from others also solely abiding in the Dharma, because one follows the Dharma spoken by others? It is not entering by the power of grasping the Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka, etc., but entering by faith through other conditions, because there is no certainty in all Dharmas, therefore, it is not abiding in the Dharma. For example, "complete giving," etc., is also not receiving instructions from others through faith, but cultivating calm abiding and insight such as impurity is following the application, therefore it is not abiding in the Dharma. Maitreya says "I to him," etc., indicating this: How a Bodhisattva with sharp faculties hears, following the Dharmas that are grasped, is cultivating calm abiding and insight that abides in the Dharma by the power of one's own intelligence, therefore, that is irreversible. Regarding "relying on not abiding in the Dharma," etc., it indicates this: A Bodhisattva from the very beginning is unable to hear and grasp the Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka, etc., and entering by faith through other conditions is one with dull faculties.

Because it is vulgar, therefore it is movable by others. It has been shown that this is not the doctrine. In order to explain the distinction of focusing on unmixed and mixed dharmas, please pray to the Bhagavan, Samatha and Vipassana also focus on unmixed dharmas, etc. The so-called "from how to grasp and contemplate the dharmas" refers to, with aspects such as emptiness, grasping and contemplating the Sutra Pitaka and other dharmas, and practicing Samatha and Vipassana, this is called Samatha and Vipassana that focus on unmixed dharmas. The so-called "focusing on each of the Sutra Pitaka and other dharmas" refers to focusing on the Sutra Pitaka and other dharmas as existing in different ways. If it is the Sutra Pitaka and other dharmas themselves, etc., the so-called "all these dharmas" refers to the previously shown Sutra Pitaka, etc. The so-called "inclined to Suchness" refers to paying homage to Suchness. The so-called "tending to Suchness" refers to mainly taking Suchness as the main thing. The so-called "entering Suchness" is a synonym for "entering Suchness." They say this: It has been shown that all these dharmas are of one taste in Suchness. The so-called "Suchness" is a synonym for "the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure." The so-called "inclined to Bodhi," etc., Bodhi is the transcendental discriminating wisdom. The so-called "inclined to the transformed place," etc., the place is the Buddhadharma, that is, the ground and the perfections of power. The transformed place is called the Dharmakaya. The so-called "all these Sutra Pitaka and other dharmas becoming one is virtuous dharma," etc., the so-called "virtuous dharma" refers to, in the stage of realization, with the nature of Nirvana, it is ultimately virtuous, and in the stage of teaching, with the nature of the path, the nature is virtuous. The so-called "immeasurable" is infinite, because the undefiled Dharmadhatu is completely indivisible. The so-called "innumerable" is because it is the same as immeasurable, completely beyond numbers.
