That which is called "not well understood". Wisdom is the path of complete purification. With it, those that are extremely imperceptible, etc. To whom? It is said to be the Dharma. What is called "those themselves" is the image of the mind itself. In order to act with extremely good understanding, whatever is the Vipassanā of a Bodhisattva who contemplates, that arises from thorough searching. If asked what arises from individual discernment, then it is said "here and there," etc. What is called "here and there" is that which is thoroughly distinguished by consciousness-only, etc. What is called "by wisdom" is by transcendental wisdom. For those dharmas that are extremely definitely and thoroughly contemplated and cultivated, the knowable that is liberated, stainless, and completely pure, and the self-nature that is completely pure, having abandoned the obscurations of affliction, for the sake of the mind's liberation, stainless and completely pure, and having abandoned the obscurations of knowledge, for the sake of the liberation of wisdom, with the self-nature completely pure, in order to touch happiness perfectly, excellently, correctly, whatever is the Vipassanā that contemplates, that is called arising from individual discernment. When asked how many kinds of Śamatha there are, the answer is: following the uninterrupted mind, etc. From what kind of Samādhi mind does Vipassanā arise uninterruptedly, that is called the uninterrupted mind. It is also said that it should be spoken of as three kinds, namely, arising from signs, arising from thorough searching, and arising from individual discernment. Because there are three kinds of Vipassanā, Śamatha should also be known as three kinds. Because of entering within and being extremely subtle, the nature was not bestowed. Furthermore, with "Śamatha has eight kinds," etc., the distinctions are shown. Because there are eight kinds of distinctions, summarized within by the distinctions of Dhyāna and the formless, Śamatha is also separately explained as having eight kinds. Furthermore, it is said that there are four kinds, namely, immeasurable loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and immeasurable equanimity, etc., because they are the mind entering within, anger, etc., completely tormenting the mind.
