Therefore, this indicates that just as not seeing a child, those who are weakened by dimness, just as if there were no external things, they see things as existing. In what way does a Bodhisattva focus on cultivating insight meditation? The answer is: When constantly and continuously applying the mind, etc. The uninterrupted mind means that interruption is a break in the middle, and no break in the middle is uninterrupted, which is a synonym for focusing on the object of meditation. In what way are calm abiding and insight meditation two? Insight meditation is the focus of the mind on the object of meditation. Calm abiding is the focus of the mind inwardly. In order to inquire about the sign of the mind, what is the sign of the mind? Maitreya explains through "the object of insight meditation," etc., that the realm of meditation, the image of the mind related to conceptual thought, as the object of insight meditation, this is the sign of the mind, because it can grasp the special aspects of the object of meditation. What is the uninterrupted mind? In answering this question, Maitreya says, "Maitreya is the object of calm abiding," etc. The object of calm abiding that focuses on the image, the inner absorption, this is called the uninterrupted mind, because it includes all objects of meditation. What is focus? In answering this question, he says, "The realm of meditation, that image," etc. Therefore, this indicates that the dharmas that appear as images of the mind in meditation are not different from the mind, because their own nature is not established. Therefore, realizing that "this is only consciousness" is the correct ultimate realization. Realization means individual self-awareness. After realization, one should also apply the mind to reality, where "realization" means realizing that it is only consciousness. After realization, realizing reality, that is, through breaking down mere consciousness, focus will be completely accomplished, because the reality of the mind is its own realm.

Because it abides on the ground. The detailed classification of Vipassanā is: Lord, how many kinds of Vipassanā are there? The answer is that there are three kinds. What are the three? It arises from characteristics, it arises from thorough investigation, and it arises from individual self-realization. That which arises from characteristics arises from hearing. That which arises from thorough investigation arises from thinking. That which arises from individual self-realization arises from meditation. Or, from the explanation of the four purities, namely, the purity of the object, the purity of the path, the purity of defilement, and the purity of self-nature, that which is distinguished by the purity of the object arises from characteristics. That which is distinguished by the purity of action arises from thorough investigation. That which is distinguished by the purity of being without defilement and the purity of self-nature arises from individual self-realization. Or, from the four kinds of reasoning, namely, dependent reasoning, functional reasoning, proving reasoning, and natural reasoning, that which has the characteristic of dependent reasoning, and that which enters relying on the cause of functional reasoning, arises from characteristics. That which enters thorough investigation by proving reasoning arises from thorough investigation. That which individually self-realizes the nature of reality by natural reasoning arises from individual self-realization. What arises from characteristics? If someone asks, the answer is, whatever Vipassanā focuses on the image associated with conceptualization, which is the object of Samādhi, arises from characteristics. This shows that whatever Vipassanā focuses on the pure image of characteristics, which is the object of meditation with conceptualization and examination, with the Dharma such as hearing as the object, arises from characteristics. What arises from thorough investigation? If someone asks, the answer is "in this and that" etc. "In this and that" refers to the very nature of the image of the mind. With wisdom, extremely...
